The most important thing Acta can do to save his job now is to meet with Rizzo and Kasten and demand that St. Claire be demoted or fired.  I think they would listen to him.  Acta has the excuse that he:

1) assumes that Claire knows what he's doing, and
2) Claire is most likely making all/most decisions on pitching, and when to go to the bullpen.

The Front Office already replaced the coaching staff in the off season, except for Acta and Claire.  The poor fielding fundamentals falls squarely on Acta, no excuses.  He never learned enough about managing to teach them.  So he now needs to dump Claire and Cabrera, and refuse to tolerate losing.
