Gameday Thread: Nationals vs Dodgers, Game 3
« Topic Start: August 04, 2005, 04:41:24 PM »

Brad Penny, RHP (5-6, 3.62)

John Patterson, RHP (4-3, 2.60)

Game Time: 7:05 PM

MLB Scouting Report:
Brad Penny will pitch for the Dodgers after allowing four runs in five innings in a no-decision on Friday against St. Louis. Penny last won on July 6 in Colorado.  Despite losing to the Expos twice last season, Penny pitched strong against the franchise formerly located in Montreal. The right-hander allowed just five runs in 21 innings pitched, including eight innings of two-hit shutout ball in a game played in Puerto Rico.

With an opportunity to pick up some momentum, the Nationals turn to John Patterson, who has never faced Los Angeles. Patterson surrendered a pair of runs in six innings on Saturday against the Marlins.  The 27-year-old right-hander has already set career highs in strikeouts (113) and innings pitched (117 2/3), and he currently has the lowest ERA (2.60) of his four Major League seasons. Patterson will make his 20th start on Thursday, one more than he had last year.
