sportsfan, how'd you like Howard's first pitch groundout there?

dumb. down 4 runs in the 7th and he's swinging at the first pitch. these Phils have given up for the night anyways. They have had poor ABs ever since Myers put them in an early hole. That sucked all the life out of the stadium and the Philly hitters.

it's pretty hard to come back from a 4-0 deficit. that's usually lights out. i don't know about the Phillies but usually when a Nats pitcher gave up early runs the hitters were so demoralized that they usually just roll over and die like the Phillies hitters did tonight.

The Nats had a terrible offense last season. I can see how a ten run deficit might get into some of the younger guys' heads, but four runs? You must have never played baseball. Or maybe the manager never let you hit.

how else do you explain teams that get down early just rolling over offensively for the rest of the game? They try to press and to hit a 5-run HR with one swing and it doesn't work. snow-ball effect. with every scoreless inning the pressure only increases on the Philly hitters.

Mike Gonzalez is pathetic. I have no clue why they didn't let Lowe go CG. he only threw 97 low-stress pitches.

Eric Bruntlett's official MLB picture makes him look like a really cheery lumberjack, or possibly a mountain man.

The Phillies couldn't touch Lowe tonight. It had nothing to do with them changing their approach because they were down 4-0. That's obvious stuff, man. Watch more baseball.

Joe Morgan is a fool. they have no chance to repeat. they have no starting pitching, Joe!!

The Braves will be better than them.

hammondsnats, your signature contains an error. Adam Dunn's official nickname, according to Wikipedia, is The Big Donkey.

How are "Opening Night" teams determined? How do the the Braves get that honor for the second year in a row? Just luck?

i think they wanted them to open up with an NL east squad and with the mets opening up their park this week, i think it's just how the chips fell.  but yeah i was thinking to myself that's not fair.

It occurs to me that we acquired Joe Beimel specifically to beat the Phillies. When a team's 3-4-5 is three left-handed hitters, somebody like Beimel can come in and shut them down...

I think the Reds will score some runs off of Johan today. Just need Harang to step up with a good outing.
