Philly is only 5 games out of a wild card slot.  Freak the world if they make the playoffs and we have to play them.

My thoughts on the NL:

East:
Nats - Number one!
Braves - Streeeeeeeaky.
Phils - Good pitching.  Looks like the they will actually try to compete for WC#2 (bad thing for Nats)
Mets - Second half plummet mode ACTIVATE.
Marlins - Play great against Nats, Suck against everyone else.

Central:
Reds - Now backed by FIP debunker Cueto (ok, so he isn't Lannan) and Shoulder Fatigue Chapman!
Cardinals - Apparently forgot how to hit?
Pirates - Getting 82 wins scares the franchise
Brewers - Hot bats, interesting pitching
Cubs - ANGER! RAGE! LOSE!
Astros - Jose Altuve and the Hagersburg Lake Monsters

West:
Giants - Heating up, looking good
Dodgers - Money ____ spent?
D-Bags - Trade ALL THE OUTFIELDERS, except for Kubel!
Padres - Season resurrection GO!
Rockies - Learning to pitch in Coors Field sucks.....

Amidoin it rite?

I wish MLB could divide up the AL East so all the teams I hate didn't play each other so often.  :?

They should do away with divisions entirely.

For all the money and the hype about AA, Friedman, Theo / Cherington, MacPhail / Duquette, and Cashman being geniuses, and for all the smash and grab wins they pull in interleague, that division has won one WS after 2007, and won only 2 pennants.

I'm sorry, I'm very happy for Duquette.  He may have a personality disorder, and put together an awful collection of people in 2001, but otherwise he was a mostly competent, at times brilliant, GM in Boston, who operated with a relatively low payroll, often behind the Jays and Os during his tenure.

:lmao:

BOSTON — Even the Yankees’ team bus had a bad night.
After last night’s 4-3 loss to the Red Sox, the Yankees were pulling out of a Fenway Park parking lot when their driver crashed the bus into a gate protecting the entrance, breaking a window.
According to bystanders, glass was shattered into the bus, but nobody was injured.

I had not concentrated on the Os last night, so I missed it when it happened, but Machado made an awesome defensive play to save a go ahead run.  There was a chopper he charged and he made like he pump faked to first, luring the runner rounding third into a wide turn and tagging him.  Poor base running. The guy might have been Jose Molina or Jose Lobaton (catcher's build).

Calling up Machado had an enormous effect on the Os.  It showed commitment by the organization and was a huge upgrade over what they had been trotting out at 3d.  It is interesting to see how the call ups of Trout, Harper, and Machado each gave their teams a kick start.

And the shortstop was heads-up trailing the play to third and being ready for the throw.

In the context of the fight over MASN fees, it may be a good thing that the O's are both doing well and drawing pretty well.  If the Nats were to pull away all the Baltimore fans because the O's were having another terrible season, then Angelos might be able to point to that and say 'I told you the region can't support two teams' and use that as ammo to keep the MASN fees low.

Above, the Astros's official Facebook page, on which they are currently advertising next weekend's Legends Weekend. The deal?

Both Jose Cruz and Joe Niekro will be at next weekend's LEGENDS WEEKEND! It's not too late to purchase your tickets to eat lunch with the legends.

Yes it is. Rest in peace, Joe Niekro. Hopefully they don't dig you up for an Astros fan luncheon.
