Cordero "wont necessarily be thrust right into the closing role?"  What exactly does that mean?  They think we have someone more suitable?  Or maybe it's just that they know we're never going to need a closer at this rate

I wouldn't mind seeing Rauch actually getting some save opportunities. Cordero should be given a few innings as the setup man and/or in middle relief before he starts closing games again anyways.

On the bright side, the Habs are playing tonight and they're going to destroy Boston again.

Definitely. But w/ pitchers, you can evaluate them close to the same, regardless of the score. He just looked better.

Frankly, I've never been more honored and embarrassed by this team currently. Embarrassed because they have dropped nine straight without a care in the world. Honored because I was present at the only game they have ever won at Nationals Park.

Just got back.. That was one of the worst games I have ever seen.  I NEVER leave games early but I left the game today after the 6th inning.  After a long rain delay the game ends roughly 5-6 minutes into the game.  The crowd was great and then the Nats reward them by getting absolutely dominated from the first pitch.

-Lannan made the decision to send him back down much easier. He was simply terrible.
-Bergmann deserves to be sent down too. He has taken a major step backwards.
-Milledge should have benched after lolly-gagging and allowing Diaz stretch a single into a double.
-WTF was Zim doing in the first inning? He could have made it to third easily. That cost us a run.
-I am no longer an Austin Kearns supporter. He's terrible in the field and in the plate.

Oh yeah, our pitchers should be fined $500 for every time they give up a hit to that piece of crap Francoeur.  Have they not seen this bum play? He will chase ANYTHING!!!! Why ever throw him a freaking strike??

Just got back, stayed for the whole thing, only because I didn't want there to be more Braves fans than Nats fans.

Watching this game made me think of this quote from Ryan Church via heatchucker:
Quote
"[Harris] was a great pinch-hitter, and I liked Lenny," Church said. "But the advice he gave me was, 'Be ready to hit.'"

Could be.

Little plate patience. Uninspired hitting fielding and throwing, even Zimmerman passing up on third... just all around awful to watch. My 14 year old said "what is he doing? ? ?" when Milledge tossed a lazy one to the cut rather than getting it to the infield.

There was a nice little pocket of people singing "Sherman"...I'm guessing that had to do with General Sherman burning Atlanta a few years back...I was amused.
