The Gat Brothers - the Amazing Singing Rabbi's cover Wish you were here.

Thanks!

That's a fun song to play; need to learn the solo.

Listening to their cover of Sultans of Swing.  They also do Sweet Home Alabama

I'd like to hear the electric guitarist solo on his own. He's pretty straight and good at doing Knopfler.  No, he's amazing at it.

Listening to Sweet Home Alabama. Less of a straight cover, just guitars.  Pretty good.

New Bon Iver album

Creeks and Strafford are two standouts for me. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/29/arts/music/review-bon-iver-22-a-million.html?_r=0

I see mention of Journey, Judas Priest and Yes as examples.

http://ultimateclassicrock.com/15-tribute-bands/

Makes sense, they know the songs and are easily scouted.

If Im not mistaken, the movie Rock Star is loosely based on Judas Priest replacing Halford.

This band's singer/guitarist is a friend of mine. Also was in Funny Money with Steve Whiteman.

Jackson, ELO, Tex, Cars   .....   Top tier
Steppenwolf, J. Geils, Journey, Pearl Jam ...  Possible entry

I guess if Dylan is a Nobel winner, ya might as well throw Joan a bone.    Of course, I don't understand a lot of the acts being in the Rock and Roll HOF.     More payin' guests I guess.

Just not a fan.

I like a good bit of this list. IDK what the hall of fame even is anymore. Really surprised to see Depeche Mode on the list.

I can't say I'm familiar with Journey.   If someone plays a song and sez, "That's Journey."   I might say, "Oh yeah.   I remember that song."    I'm with you on the criteria.    Found this:

I can't rate Tupac but by rep he's a no brainer.  Beyond that, I put in my plug for the Cars a while back.  I might put Jeff Lynne in without ELO, to pull in his Willburies stuff as well as some of his other producing.  Pearl Jam to me is another no brainer.  I love Chaka Khan and J. Geils. MC5 would fulfill Patty Smith's wish ;) Just say no to Kraftwerk, Chic, Journey, Depeche Mode.  I don't associate Joan with rock.  Steppenwolf and the Zombies deserves more thought - I don't know if the catalogues are deep enough.  I mean, do you put Blind Faith in?

I see Blind Faith as an all-star group   ....   like the Willburys   ....   but damn they were good.     IMHO Steppenwolf and the Zombies were niche bands.     I could see if they were nominated as "trend setters" or some such category.

BTW   ....   let me put in a plug.    If you ever get a chance to go to the HOF in Cleveland.    Do it  !!!    It's an all day (could be more) adventure.

Jeff Lynn is a no-brainer but he's not nominated.  Agree with Pearl Jam, the Cars, and Baez.  Journey too just for their commercial success.   Depeche Mode too.  Probably Steppenwolf simply because they wrote one of the greatest rock anthems of all time.

Le Freak was one of the more memorable songs of the 70s but I don't think that alone gets Chic in.

Certainly got 'em off the wall when I was DJ'ing at the club   ....    and that was in the late 80's/90's  ...  at least 10 years after the release.     Lots of white folks with no rhythm could "dance" to this.    :)
