I am EXTREMELY pissed off at the prices for tonight's game.

I bought them on stubhub...cheapest ticket was 11 dollars.

After all these bullcrap fees it charges...it was 21 dollars.

It has NOTHING to do with the game at all...its all for that friggin Beer Stein.

I am getting their early as hell so I can get it. Its why I wanted to go to this game anyways. If I don't get it I am going to be throughly enraged.

Prepare to be disappointed - the beer related promos are usually garbage.

+1. From the pictures they are simply plastic beer mugs with the Miller Lite Logo on one side and a curly W on the other.

Can't tell for sure that they're plastic and not glass, but I can't imagine the Nats handing out 10,000 glass mugs at the beginning of a baseball game. Tremendous legal liability.

Well...its not as cool as I was hoping for....but certainly no where near as bad as I was expecting.

Not like I was expecting a glass mug or anything.

If it is glass then its well worth the 20 bucks that I spent on the ticket. But like you said, you can expect a good amount of people to drop them and then it becomes nothing but a possible huge clean up of glass shards everywhere.

Ask Fred Willard.

Oh, wait.  You meant depictions of the beer stein, not pictures.  My bad.

They're going to be super thin plastic.

I was really saving up my disappointment and anger for at the gate for that...but then you had to come along and take all the surprise and anger out of it before I even got there.

There was a Caps/Flyers game a few years ago that coincided with a holiday food drive for the food bank...Flyers fans plus heavy projectiles equals scary.  Miraculously, there were relatively few deaths attributable to Chef Boyardee or Bush's beans that night.

...and yet...can you believe they actually used to sell soda in glass bottles at ballparks (1930's)?

Yeah...and people used to wear suits to sporting events too.

The fans of today are no where near as classy as the ones back then.

Right, the pitchers they handed out a couple years ago were possibly the cheapest piece of trash the Lerner family has ever hoisted out. These things tonight are going to be crappy, can't wait to get one.

The fact that you paid the fee proves that StubHub fees aren't too high, they didn't price you out of the market.

I can't imagine anyone caring about any of the freebies. Most are complete crap. Except for the bobbleheads, of course. Now those are worth getting there two hours early for. :az:

SH priced me out of the market years ago. I can't remember buying a ticket on there in the last six or seven years. Craigslist is the way to go. Not as sophisticated as SH but, hey, it's free.

How do you actually exchange the tickets on Craiglist? PDFs and Paypall? I have always been a bit skeptical unless something is actually being exchanged in person give the free form nature of the site.

Personally, I would stick to paper for paper when it comes to Craigslist.  At least when buying from individuals...I did buy some tickets for a game at OPACY from a broker off of CL, and IIRC they used a secure transaction service (and I used a specific credit card that I reserve for high-risk transactions like shopping in Hanoi or Lagos...or buying tickets from someone in Balmer).

Capital Weather Gang:

GAME 1 - 'Rain odds should be dwindling as the game gets underway, but with the front not too far south, it's hard to rule out rain entirely. Other than that, few if any worries and pretty pleasant daytime temps!' - mid-70's at first pitch, near 80 by ninth inning, 40% chance of rain

GAME 2 - 'It's a nice cool game, though a bit humid still. Cloud cover may range from partly to mostly cloudy, but probably more clouds than not. Fortunately, any rain threat appears rather isolated.' - upper 70's for first pitch, mid-70's by ninth inning, 30% chance of rain

Dierks Bentley is coming to Nats Park on 9/22.  Last time he was supposed to be here Country fans pumped up demand for tickets so that the cheapest seats were going for $30 each, so I just bought a ton of tickets at $5 each using the JR2012 coupon code.  I'm a little nervous about the amount of cash at risk but I'm betting that I'll more than double my investment.
