One bad game and Storen is no longer the closer?

Who's kicking for the Ravens this year?  Outside of a couple of guys,  closers are interchangeable and volitle from year to year

Panic monkeys.

Yep. I'm all for bullpen help, but Madson will want closer money and a closer role.

Really? For one, we're hoping that Storen is one of those outside of a couple of guys. Second, that isn't true of winning teams. Find me one that doesn't have a steady closer.

People are jumping to conclusions here.  You don't sign Madson to REPLACE Storen.  You sign him to a pillow landing contract for one year and use him as the B Bullpen closer and occasional setup man so he rebuilds value after being injured so next offseason he goes out and signs a multi year deal.

Ryan Madson would be a terrific addition to our bullpen, but we need a solid lefty to replace Burnett.

Detroit.

Valverde was perfect in saves last year. He also has been a solid closer for about 5 years.

He did that last time. I'm doubting he takes another one year deal

What prospects do we have to trade anyway?

Meyer, goodwin, and karns are all good trade chips.  Flores and espi could also get dealt.

I'm down, but I doubt the Rays are interested in a guy that will be a free agent in 2014. We might be better off trading Moore

I must be underestimating Goodwin and Meyer, because I think that trade would be a clear win for us. They would get a passable 2B, a good DH, and some prospects, but Price is a beast

Is Price approaching the payday? Then maybe they'll move him

You're not. This is Price's first year of arbitration. He's Super 2.

Replace Goodwin with Rendon and Tampa doesn't laugh.

that would be a sick rotation.  And we thought this year's was good.

Meyer was rated mlb.com's #50 prospect in their midseason rankings and Goodwin was #67.  Karns might sneak into the back end of the list too.  they might also be interested in some of our catching depth because they don't have any decent catchers.  Tampa bay has a big hole on the left side of their infield so that's where espi fits in.

Yes, Price is arb eligible this offseason.

It's not enough. The Rays would but consigning themselves to not competing for the next 2 years while waiting for their pitchers to develop. Any deal for Price will have to include Rendon

Am I the only one who wants to sign Anibal Sanchez to a deal? He's 28 and should be quality for the next five years. He can pitch 190+ innings and has playoff experience. 4/58 with a couple of option years would be great.

They'd still have shields, moore, hellickson, archer, cobb, and niemann.  That would be a very solid top 3 with some good depth to round it out.  There's no reason they would'nt be able to compete with that rotation.

If Price is available this offseason, we won't have enough to get him. Tampa will be asking for a Gio level deal plus more.

Shields may be gone this offseason. Moore, Hellickson are, at best, 2s. Everyone else is a 3 or worse. They need Price in order compete. He's the best pitcher on your team unless you're the Tigers or, maybe, the Mariners.

Any deal for Price will include Rendon.

I'd like to sign one of these three (in order of how much I want them) to replace Jackson.

Dan Haren
James Shields
Zack Greinke

If none of them work out, I'd prefer to keep Jackson over signing the likes of Anibal Sanchez, Shawn Marcum, or Brandon McCarthy. I feel they wouldn't offer any better value than Jackson and Jackson seemed to already fit in well here. Francisco Liriano could be an interesting option, though it's hard to trust his wildness. Am I forgetting any other big name starting pitcher free agent?

I'd prefer not to spend a lot of money on a bullpen arm. You can find plenty of value from no names who won't cost as much as a Madson or a Soria. Plus they're too volatile to invest too much money in.

I'd prefer to resign LaRoche to a 2 year deal (3 years max) and try to ship Morse to an AL team but I'm ok with him at first if we can't keep LaRoche. Either way I really feel we need to get Morse out of the outfield. BJ Upton is a flawed player and I'm not sure how much this board would like him knowing how they abhor strikeouts but he's certainly valuable. If he's too expensive another alternative I would like is Angel Pagan.

I think we'll get one of those three above if Rizzo really wants one of them.  I'd prefer Greinke just to put together the GOAT rotation.
