I'm actually annoyed that when I am maybe going to be out East for work is when the stupid Yankees are coming.  It'll be way harder to get tickets, plus I hate interleague play, plus the tickets will cost more, plus there will be insufferable Yankees fans everywhere.

Guess we'll just have to win, then.

I'd hate to be out there and be unable to get tickets though.

Are Yankee fans going to be as psyched in the coming year to see their team though? I mean no Jeter or really any recognizable star and they're stuck with ARod coming back, for some reason I think you'll be fine getting tickets for one of their games.

They'll sell at least 10,000 tickets to Yankees fans that couldn't tell you who won the World Series last year.

There are more Yankees fans around than you realize.

I think you have a point in that the Yankees are down this year and perhaps demand will be down a bit. But the Yankees are the Yankees. Tickets will still be hot and it will be a sell out.

These AL East match ups draw out fans.  OC's list of best draws has a bunch of the Boston games, and I think the NYY games drew well at RFK, too.  They are longtime franchises with plenty of transplants who will pick  up tickets.  No question the NYY games will be superpremium on the aftermarket.

By the way, what do you think the Yankee announcer's nickname will be for the new SS?  I'm expecting whenever he makes a play it will be "Greglorious."  I just hope he's smart enough not to describe their 3d baseman as "Headsupley" when he makes a smart play.

That Dodgers series from 18-21 July should be good. And those late afternoon games are great (Sat).
So if somebody was hypothetically traveling from Texas to see his first-ever Nationals home series, and make his first visit to DC since March 2005, what weekend would you recommend he visit? And how many beers will you grab with him before/during the game?

I've done Dallas in June/July and Baltimore in June/July.  I find that Eastern humidity to be way more uncomfortable.

The big  (and under appreciated) factors are stagnancy and air quality.  If there is a slight breeze it can make humidity tolerable.  Air pollution intensifies the discomfort.  I agree it's worse in the east than many other places.  However, though I have never been to Houston, I have heard that's the worst city in the US for humidity/stagnancy/pollution.

Agreed.  Those 4:05 starts let us leave home later in the day over a 1:05 start and get home earlier in the evening over a 7:05 start...

...not that we have a schedule to keep, but it's still nice.

I think the saturday late afternoon Dodgers game was the first pick in my ticket draft.  FWIW, the NYY series is untouched after 3 picks.  I have #6 pick coming up.

You really should grab all the Yankee tickets you can. Even if you don't care about seeing the Yankees, you'll be able to sell them at 10X face.

Got to think about maybe O's Monday in September, the friday Dodgers game, or one of the NYY series.  I think the NYY series might be during a Boston visit.  Dad's 95th birthday. :woop:

Two of the most awesome games at RFK were in '06 against the Yanks...Nats dropped the first one but then took 'em to the woodshed for the next two. Fun times  :P

The NYY tickets went in the first round in both of my drafts.

How do you do your draft?

with excruciating pain.  Why do you ask?

I develop a lottery order based on tickets purchased and random numbers, then we just mark up the schedule draft order list we email around to each other.  Takes several weeks to do.  I have 20+ members for a full season plan, 4 seats, with some taking pairs of seats and some taking 4s.  We started last Friday and we'll be through a couple of weeks before OD, I'm guessing.

I was curious why it takes so long but now I see it's done by email. Sounds like a pain in the butt.

I hold in person drafts at a local restaurant with a call in option. Done in one night.

I have one plan with 2 seats and one plan with 4 seats. We pick draft order out of a hat and I don't split up the 4 seats.

As you can see, I try to keep reeeealllll simmple.

That's alright, I don't live on Omaha anymore either.
