Well at least we agree on something ;)

Although I can't really fault HalfSmokes' opinion either.  Dunn might as well swing at everything with all the garbage-pile guys hitting behind him.

If it's a pitcher behind you with two outs, I think you have to look for something to try and put in play, but the more guys on base, the more the pitcher has to work under stress and the better chance for the batter. Getting on base is the key to plating runs. These guys can't help that other guys suck. I do think they need to work on preaching situational unselfish hitting though. That's the only way these guys are going to produce. Going after your OBP guys for not driving in runs is Dusty Baker like and is pointing the finger in the wrong direction.

(BTW, I was simply responding to you in turn. It's an important debate. But will try and keep it to certain threads)

Huh? Dibble had to have that stat wrong, right?

Why would it be expected that righties hit Papelbon better?

No reason for Fat Ronnie to be on a major league roster.  Him and Colome need to be cut.

lol no reason to stop or start there.  it should begin with kearns and hanrahan.

Without that play by Kotsay this game would be tied right now.

 at Rob and Bob. this game counts the same as last night's blowout loss in the standings. they should take no solace whatsoever in losing a "close game" to the Red Sox. a loss is a loss.

No, he's correct. Career-wise and this year, righties have hit better against Papelbon than lefties.

We will pwn Smoltz tomorrow.  Book it.

New park attendance record 41,530.

They already had 48, does 1 more really make that big of a difference?
It is good to see them hitting and scoring in the latter half of games. Maybe the offense is starting to heat up again.

Yup. Giving it up to the aging juicer and then to the horrible Varitek just killed us.

Wouldn't be surprised and then the Sox fans can claim it is because of an old NL pitcher.

since when is scoring 4 runs "heating up again"?

all the losses blend together at this point. I just don't see how this loss is any better than the one last night. This is a failure of a series but at least the Red Sox fans will go home happy.

4 runs, but they were hitting the ball extremely hard in the later innings
We have been stopping dead in our tracks after the 5th inning, but tonight showed promise. Zimmerman was really close to tying this thing up. You need to think of positives when your team is 29 games under .500.

just like w/ sunday's game, i'm putting this on the starting pitcher.  you just can't give up 6 earned runs in a game.  you can't.  martis/stammen jobs are in trouble.
