An important thing to think about is that old players aren't as good now as they were five years ago. Without the 'roids, it's a young man's game.
On the other hand, Morse is what, two years younger?
Funny you should mention 'roids and Morse in the same post. Didn't he have "issues" about that kind of thing while he was in Seattle. I really like LaRoche. I like his demeanor and his glove. I think he gives Desi and Espi confidence to do some of the things they do. (I ain't sayin' nothin' about Z'man.) They know he'll dig 'em out. Morse is a burden in the OF and I don't think he can give us the glove we need at first. If LaRoche can deliver appropriate numbers (less than this year but filling a spot successfully somewhere in the order), then I'd take him for 2 years and try to deal Morse to an AL team.
