Lannan. It'll be cool to see him on a regular basis again but I miss the whole stable of K Street already.

Yeah. Something psycho about hating certain players on your own team.

...  so does his demeanor and game, i.e.  he's shaky at best.

um phil mickelson is one of the best golfers in the sport.  and look at what he did today.

lannan owns an ERA under 4.  pretty good.

Did Duke start in the minors, or is he a reliever now?

He started all year in AAA.

Would rather have Lannan.

Lannan could have a 0.00 ERA in 260 IP in a season and you guys would still hate.  All he did this year was save our season.

For me, it's not hate.   I like the guy and what he did this year.    I'm simply not puttin' any money on him.   He's not my horse in a race.    Be real, you call folks out for "hate" and then you come back with Lannan saved the season?    Really?   Lannan has what?   Two of the 86 wins?    Were they critical?    One was for sure.    Did he save the season?    I'm not sure about that.

I'm glad he has a few games to pitch without the pressure of the play-offs.

What an upset by ULM!

He does have the pressure of a playoff race though!   NEver should have been sent down!

So, I guess Lannan starts Wednesday against the Mets

which would leave Det, Ed and Gio for the Atlanta series? (they'd all on five day rests).
It would make sense, because Zimmermann's ERA in his one game against Atlanta this year is 7.20!

Any other possibilities?

Yes. Perhaps a one game sample size isn't big enough to say Zimmermann should skip the Atlanta series.  Lannan should slide into Strasburg's slot, and just keep rolling.  Unless that's what you're already suggesting.

I know the question has been raised before but considering that Edwin is on a one year deal, do we just bring back Lannan next season as the number 5 guy?  Should we try for Edwin long term?  Let both go and make a run at someone like Lohse or Grienke?  Discuss.....

This is definitely one of my anti-stats head moments, but I was thinking, somewhere between my second or third Jack daniels after the Oktoberfest, that what would be so wrong with offering him arb?  I'm guessing that after a year in the minors he would not get a killer bump up.  This would also give us coverage for the 5th starter slto in case we don't re-sign E-Jax.  I'm guessing Jackson gets 3/$40MM this offseason on the open market. He's the second best starter after Greinke.    That seems a little rich with Meyer and friends in the wings.  Why not bring JL back at $6MM for a year?

No runs by the Mets; few pitches...Harvey, the Mets fire-balling hope-for-the-future, had thrown about 105 pitches in five or six innings. Lannan was about half that.

I don't remember anything the Mets hit deep: outfielders always seemed to be charging in to take the whatever got past the infield. Many ground balls, and the Nats infield is spectacular. RZimm missed an easy one and made at least three impossible diving plays. Desmond/Lombo turning DPs.
