Very true... It's the thinner air up there I think. That and all the amish/menonites I reckon.

I often travel the "southern route" when I head to Western PA (RTE 68).   Beautiful country  .....

Well, I'll come back on the 31st if it dodges the snow.  Up north, they are saying christmas will be dodgey, which kind of defeats the purpose of the whole drive up so I can take dad to brother's house idea.

One christmas we did the whole raid on entebbe / abottabad routine with a morning quick hit in NH then a turn around as soon as we saw the first snow flake. This was back when I lived up there.  I hate driving in snow.

Especially in the fall. I love living here, even if Maryland does piss me off... but that's neither here nor there...

Yup Ali, sometimes the horeses get too much fiber, then they run a little rich

driving yesterday was the quickest drive ever.  Only about 45 minutes of stops, maybe a touch longer. Left 5:50AM, arrived 1:50 PM.  Flurries and snow showers from Greenwich to Chalrton, MA.  Some accumulation in the hills north of Hartford (Vernon).

They say 2" of snow overnight starting on 12/24.  White Christmas.  Great for driving!

models show the 26-27th storm shifting inland, so little to no threat for the east coast.  January 1st still looks like there's a potential for something.

I'm laid off and I hope it snows all winter.   :)     Three of us were let go at the same time and we all said, "Can't wait 'til that first snow and I don't have to come into work."    We were all "essential" (LOL) and had to work no matter what.

CWG:

Quote
BREAKING: Period of snow becoming LIKELY around DC area Christmas Eve afternoon into the evening. Snow will have trouble sticking inside the beltway, but may whiten the ground. N & W of beltway, up to a slushy inch could fall, mainly on grassy areas. If you live N & W of Frederick and Leesburg and have some elevation, your dream for a White Christmas could come true. 1-2 inches of snow possible in those areas.

The latest model data are in, and snowier than before. Our evening blog update has details: http://wapo.st/VeJL0g

Shown here (from StormVistaWxModels.com): NAM model simulates wet snow falling at 4 p.m. Christmas Eve over the D.C. area. The freezing line runs from near Leesburg to Frederick.
