Maybe we should make a run at Bradon Webb, Mike Mussina, or Aaron Cook. They haven't done anything in a while, but they've been good more recently than Wang, and since the last few years really don't matter... A couple more Wang starts and a couple of more relief outing by detwiler and it's entirely possible that Wang will have an ERA double the pitcher he replaced

Well, his ERA was 3.38 today so that's not bad but his WHIP is almost off the charts!  He's also dragging down the staff's WHIP.  We've been #1 for almost all of the season but might not much longer with a few more Wang starts.

Detwiler looked good at the beginning of the season.  Neither he nor Wang look sharp now.

- Detwiler last year seemed to lose focus somewhere around the 4th or 5th inning. Good start, and then, thump. Although that might be a "second time through the order" problem...which would mean he won't be a starting pitcher. This year, he seemed to fade around the time of the LA series.

- Give Wang a couple of starts and we'll know more.

- Hey...this the the number 5 starter we are worrying about. Maybe Wang and Detwiler should each go four innings...a two-headed fifth starter.

Too little, too late from the Nats. Where was this effort against Dickey?

Oh well freak it, they better score 10 vs Doubront tomorrow, he's trash.
Doubront has been pretty effective for an AL-East pitcher in 2012.  He's a lot better as a starter than he was in prior years as a reliever.

ATTENDANCE at this 1:05 PM Thursday match: 32,096

...our second-best Thursday attendance (next to Opening Day) this season to date, and once again setting a new record for best weekday Mets visit (Monday-Thursday) since 2008.

Pleasantly surprised at the turn-out this afternoon - far fewer Mets supporters in the audience than the two prior days too.

It was packed, driving there was a mess, I kept trying to figure out why there was so much traffic before figuring out that it was people going to the game.  I'm used to weekday afternoon games having very low turnouts, so this one took me by surprise.  Usually I leave home at 6:30 for night games and make it to the park just in time, today it took much longer to drive a fraction of the distance.  Then the first three parking lots I checked were full.

I guess the common knowledge is right. Winning draws fans.

Lots of camp kids.

Not really, plenty of camp kids, but tons and tons of Nats fans taking off of work.  For years we enjoyed being able to buy cheap seats and sit anywhere in the park but those days may be ending.

Espinosa needs to sit tomorrow. He has grown tiresome.

In an AL park?  That's not gonna happen.

It should be an opportunity to get Moore some ABs.

Lefty throwing tomorrow so Espinosa will most likely be leading off

THIS DAY WITH THE '05 OVERACHIEVERS: Tuesday 7th June 2005: Nick Johnson's 2-run homer in the 6th makes the difference as the Nats edge the A's 2-1, with Armas (son of a former A's outfielder) outduelling Zito - record now 32-26 with this fifth straight win: http://espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=250607120

...while at the MLB First-Year-Player Draft, Ryan Zimmerman is selected fourth overall by the Nats.

Catcher Maldonado to DL, 1b/OF Tyler Moore is back with the major league team.   But will DaveyJohnson ss if he can hit one of his 31 homers in the AL-East series?
