Detwiler has a 3.76 ERA, 3.73 FIP, has (some) upside, hard throwing lefty.

Not really a terrible five starter.
Too hittable and he walks too many batters. Too inconsistent from inning to inning even in relief as we saw the other night.

Come on guys, it's 2 ER in 5 IP.  That's not exactly horrible.  He's been dancing in and out of trouble, but if this were three years ago and his name was Livo, we'd all be saying "Classic Livo.  We have a shot to win."

The problem is they're getting Dickey's knuckled balls shoved down their throats.
That's misleading though. He's had no command and loaded the bases twice. Lucked out.

He's been awful in his last couple of starts and has been bailed out by bad hitting every time he gets into a jam.

Except this is not three years ago. Three years ago we lost 100 games.

We haven't even touched dickey yet, and Wang is getting pounded

 :lmao:

And that's why I can't take this entire thread seriously.  He wasn't even trying to make a 13-year old penis joke and he did!

Three years ago we were racing for the number 1 pick, were in a very close division race and watching a guy with no command start because she was good five years ago gets old

Wow, we did?  Really?

My point is that we might be getting <--> spoiled by our starters giving up 1 or 0 in 6+.  Wang's not the problem - we're putting up our usual pathetic offensive showing.

If this team misses the playoffs, it'll be the bats fault.

Wang's lack of control is inexcusable.

At the same time Wang is uncomfortably close to a huge inning- you can't put that many guys on base and not have it come to bite you in the ass

Three years ago, running a veteran pitcher out b/c he was good a couple of years ago and might be good again was acceptable b/c we had no other options. This year it is not. We have better options -- Wang hasn't done anything in years -- we are in a pennant race and need better out of our 5th starter.

Laughable. Danny's gotta freaking go!

And 6 Ks in 5 innings against a knuckleballer sucks

I'd rather watch Wang pitch than espinosa bat, it's sad
