Uh, no one hates New Era.  Some of us just hate the New Era flag on the side of the hat.

I hate the new 59fifty authentic hats that they make. I loved the old wool ones.

It was before my time (the era of Calvin Klein and Jordache jeans), but at one point, some really good designers used to let the appearance of the article of clothing be the gauge of its look rather than the visible, look-at-me label.  New Era is in the latter camp.  If a new era hat or a northface jacket had the quality to support the price they demand, then they would not need the obnoxious prominent label.

This is why you rule.  I feel the same way about bikes, which is why I'm removing most of the logos on my bike this weekend.

Good post JCA. Couldn't agree more.

JCA - to be fair, New Era hats last a really long time and are a good bang for the buck, something that can't be said for some of the other hat manufactures (I'm looking at you American Needle).  However, Northface, like Cervelo, is for posers.

They are good quality. My red interlocking DC hat has really held up over the years. I still think $34 is ridiculous for a hat though.

The key is to never pay retail for them.  I usually pay around $25 each for them off of eBay or when Amazon screws up the pricing.

You ever listen to Ghostface?  Outside of the GZA and RZA, the most talented of the Wu-Tang Clan.

I get most of my stuff off EBay. I did pay retail for my interlocking DC hat a few years ago. I think they were in the $20's then.

Anyone know a place online that sells the New Era hats at less than the $34.95 that New Era charges - plus shipping.

eBay.  That's where I buy most of them.

eBay is great.  I got my Semin Caps jersey for $20 right after the craptsburgh game 7 fiasco a few years ago.

I want to pick up a Blue Jays hat but the blue jays have been such dicks at my bird feeder, chasing away all the other birds. Not sure I want to support them.

Agreed.

Though the Mariners might have a couple of bad ass hats this season for the "Turn Back the Clocks" games.
