Congrats to the Cards. That ump ruined the game, though.

They probably aren't showing the field on TV because there's so much trash on it

It's why you have to win the division, with this one-game joke of a playoff.

Even the announcers talking about how bad the 2-3 format is.

Looking more and more at the replay, the umpire's confusion seems to have stemmed from the SS calling off the LF. At the point where the SS calls off the LF the umpire raises his arm for the infield fly. Then the SS bails and the ball drops. It's inexcusable for the umpire to allow that to happen.

You have to be under it to catch the ball you freaking idiot.

But that has nothing  to do with the call

"An INFIELD FLY is a fair fly ball (not including a line drive nor an attempted bunt) which can be caught by an infielder with ordinary effort, when first and second, or first, second and third bases are occupied, before two are out. The pitcher, catcher and any outfielder who stations himself in the infield on the play shall be considered infielders for the purpose of this rule.
When it seems apparent that a batted ball will be an Infield Fly, the umpire shall immediately declare “Infield Fly” for the benefit of the runners"

You don't have to be "under it" when the call is made.

Oh and after watching the replay, he was under it. He had come to a stop and was looking directly up.

slate, just give it up.  You don't win internet points for being a contrarian.  Everyone's made their feelings known, I don't see any minds being changed here.

Yeah. I forgot where I read it but since Selig introduced the second wild card slot after the schedule was already created, the NLDS had to be switched around a bit.
