After tonights game Steven Souza is hitting .293,6HR,30RBI,373OBP,577SLG,950OPS. Who is this kid?

Aliens must have taken over his brain. Good for him and good for the fans.

Question for NFA Brian or JMU: What kind of repetoire does Erik Arnesen have?  Like what kind of pitches and what velocity?  Thanks.

Fastball, slurve, and apparently developing a splitter

He looks like a back of the rotation guy

If they think Espinosa is the better prospect than Desmond (and better SS), why would he see any?

Well Desmond is here now and outside the errors to open the season, he's been an above average defender and is batting close to .270.  I don't see a reason why Desmond would not be our everyday shortstop for the present and future.

I don't either... but if Rizzo thinks that Espinosa is going to be the better player later on... there'd be no reason to shift him over to second.

There doesn't appear to be anybody else at Harrisburg to play Short.

I'm not saying to call him up to Syracuse and insert him as the everyday 2B or something, but I would like to see him get some action at 2nd in h-burg.

wait...didn't Syracuse just have their 2B get suspended for the forseeable future?  might be worth the experience to throw him in there.  Maybe not though...

Holy crap Michael Burgess is having himself a year ...

.304/.405/.459, 3 HR, 12 2B, 27 RBI, 21 BB/26 K (the power numbers will come)

but his last 10 games:
.342 AVG, 2 HR, 4 2B, 12 RBI, 1.024 OPS

wonder when he'll get called up to AA-Harrisburg

Yes, and he's maintaining the nearly 1:1 BB:K ratio and the lower K rate.  Power back (.605 SLG) without the Ks. Nice

FYI

Davis was actually promoted to Syracuse.

The moves over the weekend were

Syracuse: Mench to bereavement list (no reason provided); Leonard Davis added to roster; Drew Storen promoted to Washington; Victor Garate promoted from Harrisburg; Jeff Mandel promoted from Harrisburg; the Chiefs will have to make one roster move to account for the addition of Mandel

Harrisburg: Davis' promotion; Edgardo Baez promoted from Potomac; Garate/Mandel promoted; Senators have two moves to make, but since they are off today, not sure when we will hear of moves

Potomac: Baez' promotion; Nick Moresi activated from DL

The moves by the Nationals in Syracuse now include

Andrew Kown & Chuck James from Syracuse to Harrisburg

That takes care of the two open spots in Harrisburg but creates one opening in Syracuse

Way too soon for that. Would not surprise me to see him in Harrisburg until the All Star Break

Don't you think that the Nats are too slow sometimes with their promotions? He dominated Harrisburg last year and so far it looks like he will dominate again. Do you have any idea who will replace Strasburg once he goes up? Does Daniel Rosenbaum get promoted soon?

I actually prefer the slow and methodical approach vice the rapid way it was done under the prior regime. Let the guys develop in a stable environment vice bouncing them around. The real growth comes when the opposition makes adjustments which allows adjustments in response.

And honestly, is there really a huge difference between Double-A and Triple-A? I'd almost prefer to see someone like Meyers pitch in Double-A where he is likely to face prospects just as good (if not better) than those at Triple-A

As for Rosenbaum, who does he replace in Potomac? Marcos Frias, Brad Peacock, Pat Lehman, AJ Morris, Evan Bronson & Robinson Fabian are already there.

Is the conversion to starter for Bronson just a temporary thing or are the Nats trying to make him a starter. If so, was there any rationale for it?
