Game Preview:

Both teams send pitchers with 8-10 records and ERAs above five to the mound.

Washington turns to Tony Armas (8-10, 5.23), who is 0-2 with a 10.32 ERA in his last three outings. He's been knocked out before the end of the fourth inning twice in that stretch.

The right-hander is 2-1 with a 7.80 ERA in four career starts at Coors Field. Armas is 6-7 with a 5.57 ERA in 13 road starts this season.

Rockies first baseman Todd Helton is 6-for-10 in his career against Armas.

Colorado starter Byung-Hyun Kim (8-10, 5.35) ended a personal four-game losing streak by beating the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday. Kim gave up two runs and eight hits over 6 2-3 innings in a 12-5 win for his first victory since Aug. 2.

The right-hander turned in one of his worst starts of the year against Washington on June 14, when he was tagged for eight runs and nine hits over 3 1-3 innings in a 14-6 loss.

Kim has pitched his best ball at home this season, going 5-4 with a 3.75 ERA at Coors Field.

Soriano has two singles in six career at-bats against Kim.
