In the comments section about the World Series. It was from a chat with John Manuel of Baseball America from what I  gathered.

Oh alright, thanks.  I think I found the reference:

Quote
@Jaypers413 (IL): Any recent word on whether or not Rendon will get to see any action in the AFL?

John Manuel: Sounds like the Nationals expect to assign Rendon to the AFL sooner rather than later but wanted to make sure he was 100 percent.

Impressive day by Norris.  Keith Law made mention of him in a tweet as well:

Derek Norris just turned on a 96 mph fastball from Chris Carpenter for a line drive homer to left. Also nailed a runner earlier with a 1.87.

It's not like it's a surprise...  he's not exactly a big secret.

Well, unless you're an ASSCLOWN :mg:

The success of Napoli has really made me reluctant to trade Norris.

If Flores keeps raking in winter league, maybe he builds some trade value and we can flip him along with Marrero and/or Lombo for something useful.  Then bring back Pudge for another year.

And now Napoli homers.

Let's not trade Norris for Vernon Wells.

Flores was once a star in the making. He'll never have the gun again, but I've always believed he could get the stick back.  This season wasn't what I had hoped to see him do, but he showed enough to get another go at it.

Let Pudge go, start Ramos and Flores on the 25 man and let things flow to their natural conclusion.

Flores doesn't seem like he'd be content catching 30-40 games a year.   If we trade anyone I'd bet it would be him.   Norris will start the year at AAA and we'll look to sign a 30-something catcher comfortable in a backup role.

I think Flores could beat out Ramos as his max potential.  If he excels Davey will play him.  It's a longshot but worth taking.

Mind you I'm not opposed to trading him should the right deal be struck, but his value would be enhanced greatly by showing he's MLB ready, beyond Venezuala ready.

Time from when it hit his glove to the second base glove. 1.8s to 2s is very good. <1.8s is superb.

I've read 91-94 and 90-93 depending on the source.

That's funny.  I read that tweet as him being sick and tired, like he's sick and tired of Techno, not physically sick/ill.

Linty: Since I have your attention, are you a big Branch Rickey fan?  I'm thinking he'd have loved D. Norris as much as you :)

Sure am. He knew how to find talent in unconventional ways.

Also just ready Rickey might have dabbled in sabermetrics well before anyone even knew what it was. That'd only improve my opinion of him.

I read in a Willie Mays bio that he was all about OBP and power.  He was apparently the first to really stress that.  I want to find a bio on him sometime and read more about it.  One source said he factored things like advancing runner up a base into calculations for evaluating as well.  He definitely was ahead of his time in many ways.
