Acta didn't need an e-mail to get the latest on another injured Washington pitcher. Shawn Hill, whose been out since May 12 with a left shoulder strain, played a light game of catch before Friday night's game in Toronto. It was Hill's first baseball activity since landing on the DL, but he's still a few weeks away from returning the roster. Acta said Hill hasn't even begun a proper throwing program yet. Hill isn't likely to pitch again until after the All-Star break, July 9-11. Quicker returns are expected for some of the other five injured hurlers. Acta said the trio of Bergmann, Patterson and Williams could be back with Washington before the end of June."We're shooting to probably have them up here by the end of the month," he said. "That's our goal. We'll see. It depends how they feel after their start because you never know if any of them is going to have a setback."For Ayala, who underwent Tommy John surgery on March 30, Friday's outing was his second in as many games, marking the first time he's worked on consecutive nights. He pitched one scoreless inning, giving up one walk and throwing 11 pitches, five for strikes."We're shooting for him to have two back-to-back outings down there before he can join us," Acta said.Pitching injuries have decimated the Nationals this season. Four-fifths of the Opening Day rotation has spent time on the shelf. Rookie left-hander Matt Chico is the only one to stay healthy all season so far.
woot woot ... the jays have their pen warming up!! woot woot
And Abreu Brain Farts More Times In A Third Of An Inning Then Ever In MLB History.
Whew...6-0.Unfortunately, I think the Nats were due for this kind of game. No, wait. I blame this on my dad's uber-positive e-mail!
Really, a result like this was kinda inevitable. We're on the 7th game of a road trip against the ace of a team that didn't play yesterday. We just have to get this one out of our systems overnight.
yeah. Woot.Ok, so it's not going to matter - but maybe we could at least plate a run ...Woot.
Looks like the O's bullpen is about to blow another one. They are up 3-1 in the top of the 8th and Arizona has 2 runners on and no outs.
