tweet of the night:

Quote
@Slashleen: The only way I could love Adele any more is if she stuffed her Grammys in a pillow case and beat the crap out of Chris Brown.

The Civil Wars. They were awesome. Apparently they won best country album this year.

Nice.  This has been one of my favorite finds this year.  Listened to them this afternoon while working on refinishing the floor.  Them and Mumford have been  some of my favs of 2011.

Thinking about it... if you've ever heard the soundtrack to Once, that's what The Civil Wars remind me of.

I thought the exact same thing the first time I heard them.  Had to look them up to make sure it wasn't the same dude.

I watched Adele's performance a couple of more times, absolutely amazing, as was her near breakdown at the end of the night.  Nicky Minaj was, and is still, utter garbage.   I'm surprised Gaga didn't at least get a live performance.

Why do they let Bruce Springsteen play guitar? He's awful. That whole guitar crapfest was pretty bad, considering Dave Grohl was the only one that seemed competent. And that Holliday in Rome crap may be the worst thing I've ever seen. Adele was pretty awesome, my wife loves her.

2012 Grammy Awards were horrible.

They're kinda like the Gold Glove awards in baseball.

The Civil Wars dude was pretty good on the guitar.

They're kinda like the Gold Glove awards in baseball.

I remember once watching, and within a couple of awards in I was able to discern the pattern and predicted every other winner from then on.  Ok, that's been awhile  :old: but then the pattern was to pick the most mainstream wussified pop drivel from the nominees, and you had a lock.  Anything with edge was a loser.

terpfan - please listen to "Because the Night" before you disrespect Bruce's guitar.  Of course, that was almost 35 years ago, but listen to "Worlds Apart" if you want something more recent.

He may be able to play on the album, but he's terrible live. I've heard him play and he's just not good enough, not even close to be playing solos in a "jam session" however lame it actually is.

Usually Bruce is competent live but last night was a complete and total disaster.

Yes. Actually they're rather proud that the Americans like her so much. Kinda like Downton Abbey.

Joe Walsh is a solid player, but come on, those guys on that stage are not "jam session" guitarists. Bruce Springsteen is fine as a complimentary guitarist... rhythm guy if you will, but not as a "lead guitarist". He just doesn't have the skills for it.

2nd highest rated grammys ever.

And AP with a major fail:

Quote
But while her death lent a somber overtone to the evening's show, it did not overwhelm it, perhaps best proved by the show's closing number, a rollicking jam session featuring Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and Dave Grohl among others.
