I'd never heard of her either.

I guess it depends on what you listen to, my kids like to listen to the pop stations on XM (Z100-KISS), her music has been in constant rotation for much of the last 6-8 months.

here's a good starting point - maybe her best performance ever:

And from there go to "Rolling in the Deep".  The new "Set Fire to the Rain" track is pretty good as well.

Joe Walsh is a solid player, but come on, those guys on that stage are not "jam session" guitarists. Bruce Springsteen is fine as a complimentary guitarist... rhythm guy if you will, but not as a "lead guitarist". He just doesn't have the skills for it.

I told my wife they needed to bring out Clapton.

God damn. I know and love Adele, but when I'm not actually listening to her I forget just how amazing that voice is. It just doesn't sound like something that somebody learned how to do.

Seriously, who is Adele :couch:

Are you freaking kidding me......You don't know who Adele is? Six grammy nominations, and won six grammys, the other night.  In "Music I am listening to" thread - last month I mentioned I was listening to Adele and her song "Rolling in the Deep". She's British, has a mesmerising voice,is popular in about 18 countries, and is sky-rocketing to fame.  She will be an international superstar. Absolutely unbelievable voice. Check out her CD's titled "19" and her most recent CD titled "21".

Pop has never been my thing.  Thank goodness I can crawl into my shell and put on my Bose noise suppression headphones and crank up the Floyd.

Or this week, maybe I'll pay scant deference to the Grammys and try out my new Civil Wars CD.

TommyT - the original board hipster. :smh:

Time to crank up the Explosions in the Sky and hope the four horsemen of the Apocalypse show up before this next conference call.

they did a great job with "wouldn't it be nice".  the Bon Iver lead singer looked like he had stepped away from parking cars to accept his award.

I'm gonna go ahead and complete the triumvirate of cultural ignorance by stating "I have no idea who Adele is, either."

I looked Adele up on Wikipedia once, but I don't remember any of it and I've never heard her music before, so I think I make it a forumvirate of cultural ignorance.

Don't sweat it Vega.  When pop culture rotates towards us again, we'll be sitting on top of the world with our premier knowledge of Matt LeCroy, Lastings Milledge and all the other great historical Nats that preceded this new pop phenomena.

Rainbow!!  One of my all-time favorite bands.  Final Vinyl is one of my all-time favorite albums.  Never got to see them play live but I did see Joe Lynn Turner in a small club in Long Island when he was the front-man for Yngvie Malmsteen's Rising Force.

I've been on a steady musical diet of Opeth, Dark Tranquillity, Megadeth, Insomnium, and Mastodon. Yeah, so pop isn't my thing either, nor do I listen to the radio.
