Aren't the Cards a game away from clinching too? If so, gotta figure they'd take the foot off the pedal.
No, Cards are up three games on Dodgers, six to play. So Cards will be playing to win tonight at least. Then even if Dodgers lose tonight, Cards can't give up tomorrow unless Dodgers have already lost. And assuming Dodgers win one of two, we can expect the Cards to play to win all three games.
