Haven't watched hockey steadily for several years.   For some reason, I got a little fired up for this team.   Not sure what I expected but I'm disappointed.

You know what I'm realizing? They have a lot of good role players. A lot of guys who can contribute. Especially defensemen. But they don't have the stars they need. Backstrom and Ovie have not become the stars we thought they would. That's the difference right now. Basically, the Caps are the Bulls without Jordan and Pippen.

Whoever from the eastern conference makes the finals will be out in four.  Schadenfreude perhaps, but also probably true.

Ovie is such an odd duck sometimes.

On the one hand, he comes off as lazy and a bit of a douche

And then he goes and does a good captain type move and keep Backstrom out of a fight, taking the penalty for him essentially.

Even when the Sabres suck, it's always a joy beating those pricks.

And the winner of the 2013 Futility Cup is Buffalo!  It was a hard fought battle between lame teams, but ultimately the Sabres outsucked the Caps.  Buffalo netminder Ryan Miller commented after the game “I was proud of the boys for all of those neutral zone turnovers in the third period.  Washington tried to give us the game, but we weren’t taking it lying down”.

With last night's loss at Pittsburgh, Capitals are now 0-9-1 in away matches outside the Southeast Division...legitimate contenders don't do that.

Also, Capitals earn no standing points in a season against the Guins for the first time ever.

That power play was piss poor...2 shots in 4 minutes?  I'm surprised the Penguins didn't score 4 more after they killed it.  Oh well, no more yinzers this season.

Great team win. Probably the best they've played all season.

no that was the 7-1 vs Florida.  Isn't the Papa Johns deal only if they win at home.

I just got an email from PJ saying we can get 50% off, so, I guess it's good home or away. The Nats promotion was.
