Five of the final six series were against the 1st place AL Central (Tigers), 2nd place AL Central (Indians), 2nd place NL East (Braves), 2nd place NL Central (Cubs) and 1st place team NL Central (Brewers). This is not an easy stretch for a team with a $37 million payroll to go through and reasonably expect to do well.
Despite the quality of these teams, the disappointing thing is that four of the five were at home but, putting it all in perspective, you couldn't really be surprised that the results were what they were.
