Rumors are out that within 72 hours Bruce Boudreau will be fired.

Somewhere in his parents basement TheJoeGreene is feverishly beating off.

i think they would give him at least until the penguins game. if the team can't get it crap together for that game, then there might not be hope.

i also think ovie is turning a corner. he played very well at times last night. had a big hit that led to a goal. flew down the left wing and scored on a move that everybody knows is coming.  he did the same down the right wing against WPG, but the goalie made a tough save. he's had four pretty good chances the past couple games and one goal to show for it. he is setting people up. he comes down the left wing with speed, backs up the two dmen then hits the 3rd guy coming down the right wing. did it twice last night. once to brouwer who didnt score, then again to wideman who passed back across the ice to brouwer who missed from right beside the net.

I can see them giving him until the halfway point of the season to get things fixed. Question is....who would they bring in to replace him? I'm not crazy about guys like Marc Crawford. Maybe a guy like Kirk Muller?

You would think Boudreau could motivate the players by saying "either play well for me or get me fired and then have some jerk like mike keenan come in here". if they were to fire him, i doubt theyd bring in a players' coach

Was just a guy on Twitter that I trust a lot and is usually always right, not to say he hasn't been wrong before. However I've heard from other people more and more people are saying it now.

I don't usually consider this type of source legit, but guess we'll see. Rumors have swirled every time the Caps have hit a slump.

Believe me I don't believe twitter people ever, unless it's a legit person that works for a company like CSN, however, this guy has broke A LOT of stuff before it happens, so I usually trust what he has to say.

Yeah, I agree. Boudreau is definitely a player's coach. I think a big part of the problem is that he's now trying to hold guys accountable and they are just tuning him out. This swiss cheese defense isn't doing BB any favors either. I'm kind of shocked that our defense is as bad as it is. I know they have some injuries on the blueline, but they should still be better that what they are. I thought defense would be a strength this season.

Maybe I was wrong about BB making to the halfway point in the season. Caps look bad again. Ted might not be able to wait until midseason. It really looks like they have quit on BB. No effort whatsoever.

At least the Capitals are wearing the old school jerseys. They'll look good while playing like crap for once.

They need to wear the red helmets with them like they did in the classic.

:lmao:

Bruce has no answers. This team isn't playing for him anymore.

Bruce hasn't had a correct answer to any of this team's problems since he started. Took over an incredibly talented team at the perfect moment and has been riding that ever since. AHL coach. Always has been, always will be. DEFINITELY doesn't have Ovechkin's respect.

Alan May ripping them a new one on the post game show. I agree with pretty much everything he said. They lost just about every physical battle out there tonight. Two Caps getting beat to the puck by one Sabre. It really does look like they've quit on Boudreau. I'm not sure if he can get this team back or not. Ted is going to have to make some tough decisions in the very near future.

Bruce has gotta go. Just the way it is. Getting blown out by a bunch of rookies tonight? Unacceptable

Lots of speculation on the Bumper Boards that BB could be gone within the next 72 hours. Capattack posted some info from an inside source that Dale Hunter will be the next coach. I have no idea how reliable his source is, but alot of Caps fans have talked about Hunter being BB's replacement over the past year or so. Any thoughts on Hunter as coach?

hockey coaching isnt as much of an Xs and Os job as some other sports. it is more of a fit and motivational thing. hunter could be a useful rough and tumble change of culture. but do the caps really want to give another guy his first nhl job? i dont know if a team with cup aspirations wants to go with a rookie. the pens won with bylsma, but they werent a favorite going into that year i dont think.

i dont know who is available, but i think a guy like mike keenan might be a good choice. won a cup. there will definitely be no freaking around. the dude seems like a scary wack job in that he might keep a gimp locked up in his basement

i do think it is a bit risky changing coaches at this point in time. this could just be a rough patch. its still pretty early. but if they made a change i'd understand

I agree about the Xs and Os comment for the most part. However, I have never agreed with the constant juggling of lines that BB does. I believe that a line should be given some time together to try to gel. Switching guys each night just doesn't work in my opinion. It's hard for a team to build consistancy if you don't know who your linemates are going to be each night.

As for some coaches out there that might be called upon to replace BB if there is a change, the names that interest me are Bob Hartley, Kirk Muller, and even Ted Nolan. I would prefer to see Hartley or Muller. I'm just not sure that Hunter has enough time coaching as of yet.

Hunter is a huge gamble given that he has no AHL or NHL experience but he would certainly give this team a kick in the ass and he'd command respect. If it works out, it's genius, if not, then we waste this season.

IF they fire Bruce, they need to get a guy who will come in and demand respect. It has to be someone who can get the team to respect him. I love Hartley, I think he'd be in consideration.

I thought he would survive til at least the midseason, but the team has been pretty bad for a few weeks now. I think they are something like 5-10 over the last fifteen games. I wouldn't be shocked if he was fired tomorrow, but I wouldn't be surprised either if he is still here in January.
