83 pitches for Lannan after 6 ... and 82 for Guthrie. Can you say "another improbable pitching duel"?

Nice job, Lannan!

OT: Anyone else like that "Now throw me a pitch just like we're outside" commercial? Classic, IMO. I still crack up every time I see it.

Why? He is doing the same thing Lannan did last year. VanAllen might even be more dominant that Lannan was last year in his tear through the minors. 6-0 1.18 ERA in A+AA

You want to see him pitch at every level and adjust as hitters adjust to him. That takes more than a couple of starts. If he keeps it up he may get a look in September to wet his feet but no more. Plus you have to build him up (arm strength) gradually like they did with Lannan last year.

Guthrie's losing it. We somehow need to take advantage.

i am just amazed that Manny didnt have Milledge bunt. the 7th inning in a one run game. the opposing pitchers know not to throw him a strike... I just cant get over this

my apologies for being patient.

I'll try to be more like you from now on.

I'll worship Jesus Flores, and make sure I call everyone else who doesn't go 5-5 with 3 HRs every game a worthless career minor leaguer.

Gotta love having the DH today. Lannan would not be in this game right now.

That little stumble kept him from scoring.

He should've run over the catcher, at least do some damage.

The Nationals get more players thrown out at the plate than any team in the Majors.

Nice blazing athleticism and speed there Dukes :?

Seriously though, Markakis is a cannon.  The 3rd base coach should've thought twice about that one...

That wasn't a poor decision though. Dukes stumbled around 3rd and it cost us the run and in a tight game where you're not hitting it was worth a shot.

WTF is Dukes tippy toe-ing for?  What good is he if he can't hit and doesn't use his size and speed on the basepaths.  I saw him stumble a bit but come on man, learn how to run the bases.  This teams finds a new way to F up every game.
