They were wearing them earlier today.  I think it's because the weather's fairly cool in the evening.  I know there was some conversation that they wouldn't allow them because they're playing basically in the front yard of the queen and it wouldn't be proper or something.  Because building a giant sand box in the front yard of Buckingham Palace is.

Okay. That's what I thought, but my wife is saying they got banned originally.

I thought they did too, but there were definitely bikinis on the tv this afternoon.

Wow Japanese "Superman" missed on horizontal bar.

I don't think the favorites here are favored any more:

Phelps no medal 1st event
Chinese gymnasts falling apart.
Upsets in Volleyball

Interesting article on uniform issue:

 http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/olympics/at-london-olympics-womens-athletes-wardrobes-are-source-of-debate/2012/07/26/gJQAPcrQCX_story_1.html

Wow those are pretty skimpy for a sporting event, though not out of the norm in this modern day and age. Interesting article, thanks.

Me, OC, Salty and welch were there.    Only problem is there were no female athletes.   However in the evening, we did chase the sixteen vestal virgins.

It's actually at Horseguards, which is at the other end of St James's Park from Buckingham Palace - the courtyard is for the most part always regular dirt/gravel and not paved, so setting the beach volleyball up, I think, wasn't all that difficult.

Oh, cool.  It's just strange to see a temporary beach volleyball court built in and around such regal settings.  Actually, it's pretty cool.

Yeah and many athletes at that time wouldnt be interested in the vestal virgins.  Why do you think they were still virgins?

Not that there is anything WRONG with That!

Just sayin'

In fact on a December 2010 visit (I usually go to London about once a year) I saw signs announcing the plans for the construction of the beach volleyball site there.

I also saw the main venue when I was there this past March - it was pretty far along by then, with a huge new shopping mall built next door, plus easy access at Stratford tube station (Central and Jubilee lines).

The Jubilee line is like something out of the Jetsons. Hands down the finest subway I've ever been on.
