Next thing ya know, all pro teams in the states will take on the look of the downright ugly unis in the Premier League (soccer). I think baseball will be the last one to go with the ads.

and mlb has had new era/majestic, some football/basketball teams have under armour, etc...

that is the apparel manufacturer label. i have no problem with that.

What these idiots don't get is that, the gained revenue (from the logos) will be offset with the decline in jersey sales. I mean who would want to wear jerseys filled with companies logo? Or even would pay 40+ dollars for it?

European hockey jerseys are completely plastered with adverts, and fans buy plenty of those. When DC United stuck the VW logo on the jersey a few years ago lots of people ran out and bought the new gear. I doubt that Nats jersey sales would go down a bit. Don't get me wrong, I hope the day never comes, but I'm pretty sure it will and I'm also pretty sure that most people will quickly forget that it was ever an issue.

I've seen those in Austria and the Czech Republic...the players look like walking Sunday supplements.

In English football, on the other hand, the jersey (and other articles such as warm-up jackets) have the sponsor name - such as Samsung at Chelsea or Aon at Man Utd - and that's about it; no massive overload of advertisements.

I know I wouldn't like it. It works well with the Premier League and NASCAR since it has been on their uniforms for years. NASCAR started stuffing their cars with ads in the early 70s and Association Football in the late 70s. It has obviously worked out well for them, but I would think that there was a "transition" period - where there were both fans who preferred the old ways and new fans who accepted it. So if the MLB did cave in and switch to ads on jerseys, there would definitely be a transition period.

I personally like the fact that the jerseys are simple and not TOO far off from those decades ago- they have only changed due to improvements in fabric and slight changes in fashion. If teams such as the Yankees or any team with a strong uniform tradition decided to add prominent corporate logos, it would cause quite a stir.

How desperate is the MLB for more revenue? We already get pounded with ads during the game.

Seriously I have never in my 21 years of living ever seen someone wear a NASCAR jersey. I have seen a few wear the jackets but I don't remember seeing any logos on it. What I would suggest they do is apparel sold to customers not have the logos on it.

I mentioned that I saw some jackets before but I had to google up the image to see if they had the logos on them. But jereseys never heard/seen of them before for NASCAR.
