Anyone that looked at Martis's numbers knew the wins wouldn't keep coming.

Level 3 - Berkman swung
Wasn't that series in Houston where Ray Knight started drawing all over the plate to show how Stammen's pitches work?

Here's a question: is there any franchise today that is run as poorly as the Nats were in the first few years?

The current Marlins are being run by a total money hungry criminal.

Yes, but they at least field decent players.

I have a feeling they'll dump Reyes and flip BGS for a package of bust werthy prospects from the Red Sux.

You have to throw in bgs to get another team to stomach the Reyes contract,

The Astros are every bit as bad if not worse than the Nats.

but at least they have a good farm system.  It took the nats until 2009ish to get a decent farm

The Nationals are considered the favorites to sign Michael Bourn while the Phillies "are an early favorite" to sign B.J. Upton, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.  Heyman sees Bourn getting a five-year, $80MM contract while Upton is in line for at least a five-year, $60MM deal.

there's absolutely no way Mike Rizzo gives 5/80 to Bourn when he's got to worry about extending JZ.  Not gonna happen.

Bourn is a guy I really don't want.  His game is based around his legs and speed is almost always the first tool to go.  We could extend desi, cover haren's money he's owed in 2012, and solve our bullpen problems for less money then it will take to sign bourn

They haven't produced any talent since Pence. They didn't spend on the farm system for years I'd be a little more leery of what they have that is equal to an Espinosa,Zimmermann or even Detwiler.

Meh, we have Meyers to replace him.

Correa, McCullers, cosart, rio Ruiz, Jonathan singleton, deshields.  Much better than what we had back then.

Yeah, of all the big name free agents this offseason, Bourn is probably the last guy I'd wanna sign to a long term deal. Josh Hamilton is second.

The Drayton McLane/Ed Wade Astros absolutely were that bad, but the new guys are doing a good job of turning it around. They're basically where we were in '09. They're trying to figure out what exactly they have at the major league level while waiting for hot shot prospects. They have some good major league pieces in Altuve, Harrell, Domiguez, Castro, Lowrie, (Trade bait.) and maybe Wallace. It won't be pretty, but they have a good chance of slowly improving like we did if they stick to the Plan and their prospects pan out.

Can't wait for the rumor linking us to Josh Hamilton and the 600 page thread of despair.

Page one: "I don't want Hamilton, sounds risky"
Page 600: "SOMEONE PUSH RIZZO DOWN A FLIGHT OF STAGE THIS IS AN OUTRAGE"

Happens every year! Natitude! The whole Prince ordeal was intense. I remember refreshing MLBTR every 30 seconds.

For whoever threw out Levale Speigner's name - I remember that game against Johann Santana.  I think he was sent to the minors just a few days later.

You can't blame it on the Astros.  They guys they drafted refused to sign for slot, what you gonna do?
