Liked this guy. His early, pre-Mayberry stand up was very funny if you haven't heard it.

Flew over his compound in Manteo a couple of years back.  He started his acting career in the outdoor theater production "The Lost Colony" there.

Great actor, seemed like a genuinely good person.

No one was making fun of the Andy Griffith Show. We can not emphasize that enough.

Why on earth was he buried four hours after he died? They must have had the casket sitting in his home waiting. That is just freakish and bizarre. Either he had been dying or something ain't kosher.

What a loss though. Great actor and comedian.

I just hope Dick van Dyke isn't next. Dude has a zest for life like I've never seen, and he's as active, energetic and sharp as a tack at his age as anyone I've seen.

Can't believe that they didn't play the theme to the Andy Griffith Show last night, would have been awesome to whistle along to that one, haven't heard it in 20 years but I'm sure I'd get every note.

I doubt Andy was a part of the tribe but that's one possibility.  Another is that's what he wanted.

Biggest surprise for me in reading Andy Griffith's obituary was that his undergraduate degree was in music education, and his first job out of college was as a high school music teacher.

This is the recording that made him famous:
