i don't doubt it. Dukes is a natural in center, and to be wasting his instincts and athleticism in right field is asinine.

you are such a groupie.

with all that said, Milledge *does* need to move in.

if you don't want to put that on Milledge, then it is on Manny for positioning him there.

Manny needs to move him in.
Both are very clueless at times and need a lot of work.

Manny needs to move him in.  does that sit better with your pro-milledgeness, Hammonds?

they play Milledge so ridiculously deep because he's TERRIBLE at reading balls over his head. he's horrific in that aspect.

I'm not a Manny-hater by any means, but I wouldn't mind at all if we got a more intelligent (and fiery) manager.

bottom line: Milledge is a major liability in center.

Manny is a good guy and all but I'm not sure if he's the right person to manage a Major League Baseball team. I think they'll give him a chance so we'll find out soon enough.

I can't believe we finally get a reasonably consistent offense and right on cue our pitching starts taking a dump all over the field.

This ump has been absolutely dreadfully inconsistent tonight. He has bailed out the wild Met pitchers all freaking night with some really generous calls.

The problem is that Milledge has a tendency to take a first step in on fly balls rather than standing still to judge them.  When a ball is hit deep, it's harder for him to track down, so putting him farther out is somewhat of a preventive measure - it's meant to compensate for his instincts and eliminate a lot of those XBH's that go out to center.

But hammondsnats will tell us that it's all the fault of the defensive alignments since he'd rather not admit that Milledge has significant faults. :?

and BTW, it's obvious, Manny definitely favors Milledge over Dukes.

SEVEN people meet on the Metz mound to discuss how to pitch to Guzman.
Guz tonight tied Pujols with 51 multi-hit games in 2008.

Damn everyone calm down. So quick to point fingers at people who are fans of a player and blame it all on the poster.

Only person deserving of that is AZ with all his ludicrous posts like Dukes should play entire outfield. Let it go, we got freaked over by pitching now and its bullcrap

Obviously you didn't read my prior post, where unlike AZ and some others on here, I'll be the first one on here to say what are you thinking Milledge, what are you swinging at, or c'mon Balester make your pitches.

I think even Sportsfan and SpiderNat may give me that.

What I'm saying is ... when you're a centerfielder and the alignment is to play deep ... then play deep.  And I'm sure with 3-4-5 up being Wright - Beltran - Delgado the Nats want to play deep.

Okay so let's move on and get this win.
