some of the best (peruvian) chicken i ever had is at Chicken Tortilla at 8th and L SE. get the green sauce

The place next door (Levy's) has great Mac & Cheese. And it's listed as a vegetable so it's healthy.

Weird hours, they cater to the Navy Yard lunch crowd.

Yup, it's really good but you have to time it right.

I could really go for a half smoke with chili from the Home Depot on Rhode Island Ave right now. (AKA Home Deport)

I picked up a couple of toothpaste tubes of German hot mustard at Cafe Mozart over the weekend...with a pound bag of Snyders sourdough pretzels on one side of my computer and the mustard on the other, this afternoon is set.

Grilled some lamb chops last night - local grown in Mount Airy, Md.  Expensive as crap at whole foods.  They were very nicely flavored, but quite a bit chewier than the normal New Zealand or Australian varietals.

Ha, funny you should say that.  I was standing at the meat (meet?  ) counter when a woman I know as a boy scout mom saw me, and we talked about what we were getting.  She was getting beef, and indicated she wouldn't eat lamb.  Under further interrogation, she conceded it was because they were just too cute to consider eating.

I like lamb done well, otherwise it's way too fatty for me. My mom can't eat lamb because when she was growing up, she remembers them bringing a lamb into the kitchen and putting it near the stove because it was too cold outside for it. (I know some of you went totally 'Clarise' a second ago'.)  ;)

I generally trim ALL the fat off anyway.  I like them medium rare, more tender than if they're well done.

I meant that as done well, not well done. But yeah, I get what you mean.

The only failing of feta cheese is that it doesn't melt well.  Had some diced potatoes that I baked and tried to melt some feta over top for lunch.  Still tasted good, at least.

No reason to melt the feta, just scatter a couple of spoonfuls and be happy.

Or take it up a notch and saute a little fresh spinach in olive oil with some garlic and throw in some diced tomato and feta at the finish and then put that on top. Your hot spinach will melt your feta.
