Did they pick a strict LF / CF / RF?  they used to take 3 OFs.  Maybe Trout got dinged because he played a lot of left and had <900 innings in CF?  My bias is towards range in the OF.  Jones isn't good that way, but frankly, there are not that many good defensive CFs  in the AL.  Span would be the most obvious one other than Trout. 

Trout played enough in CF to warrant GG consideration. He should have won it.

The whole award is freaking stupid. All post season awards are stupid they're a popularity contest and that's it. Not one award has any kind of meaningful criteria that the voters must follow.

Nah.  It's just one of the few groups of writers to give out their own awards, and the Boston chapter has historically had a number of heavyweight writers in it.
