I'm not sure what a "game score" is, but Amanda Comak just tweeted this:

Amanda Comak ‏ @acomak

Because some of you asked: The "game score" for Edwin Jackson's no-hitter was 85. This was an 87 -- the highest game score of his career.

Quote
Game Score is a metric devised by Bill James to determine the strength of a pitcher in any particular baseball game. To determine a starting pitcher's game score:
Start with 50 points.
Add 1 point for each out recorded, so 3 points for every complete inning pitched.
Add 2 points for each inning completed after the 4th.
Add 1 point for each strikeout.
Subtract 2 points for each hit allowed.
Subtract 4 points for each earned run allowed.
Subtract 2 points for each unearned run allowed.
Subtract 1 point for each walk.

Not surprising at all. He walked 8 batters during his no-hitter.

Not sure what else to say, I'm just really enjoying going to games in a full park, surrounded by Nats fans, watching a winning ball-club.  Pinch me.

Coming home Friday from work I was listening to the (dopes on) the fan and they were discussing whether or not Strasburg should pitch well past 160 innings if it meant a WS title, though at risk over his health.  The chat was nothing special, but I had the thought that if you had in mid 2004 given me a little glimpse into the future, to let me hear that future 2012 conversation, I would have been shocked and ecstatic.

Really?  In 2004 the rumors were flying that the Expos were coming to DC and it certainly would not have been a stretch to have guessed that the eventual owners would have fielded a playoff team by now.  What's more surprising is that it took this long, first MLB delaying the sale for a year and a half then old man Lerner cashing in on league revenue sharing for five years.

What was truly surprising was that we were in first at the Fourth of July in 2005.

I was tuning it out at the time, but okay, maybe 2003 then.  There had been plenty of rumors before.  Washington Padres, anyone?

I remember having conversations in 2002 with a baseball fanatic co-worker where I was sure that MLB would move the Expos to DC by 2003 rather than have them play home game in Puerto Rico, that's part of why I always thought that Williams got fleeced on the ballpark deal, they needed us more than we needed them.

I remember during the late 90's at some point it was going to be the Washington Astros.

Was a great game today, though.  Before Werth's double when he had 2 strikes against him, I still got that feeling where I just knew he would strike out.  I'm very happy he came through.

Zimm's 1-handed grab was the #1 web gem tonight on ESPN, with one of the hosts saying it's the play of the year right now (for LaRoche as well).

It was a great day at that park. Perfect game for little Shoeshine Baby to see his first game. Edwin Jackson looked great in all facets. What an athlete. And Flores is really pushing Ramos. Competition is a good thing. So nice to see some actual depth.

Dominant pitching for 5 straight games. Can't say it enough- starting with Detwiler's first start of the season, the pitching has been damn near unstoppable.

One thing I noticed today, and please don't anyone take this as anything other than an observation, is that the crowd was quite diverse and really pumped when Jackson came back out in the 8th and on fire when he came out in the 9 th to close it out.  I hadnt felt as excited and happy about MLB bring people together like that since Dontrelle Willis set the world on fire back in the early '00s.

...  and not to add anything but an observation, there was, what I assume to be because of the dress of the women (appropriately covered), a Muslim family sitting five rows up behind home plate.   Mom was into it.   I remember thinking with a sense of satisfaction, "Only in DC".
