For those going tonight - back to our wonderful weather issues that have bedevilled us all season - Yahoo! Weather predicting 60% chance of rain both today and tonight, with scattered thunderstorms.

Wasn't quite as bad last night as I originally thought it might be, as far as crowding on Metrorail going to/from the ballpark, nowhere nearly as bad as the Boston series - but then the announced attendance was a bit under 2/3 of capacity (26,890). I'd still suggest budgeting a bit more time than usual getting out there.

He has given up 3 earned runs or less in 14 of 16 starts this season.

-The Cubs are 4-0 in Zambrano's last 4 road starts in Washington.

-Washington is 15-36 in their last 51 Friday games.

-Cubs are 40-18 in Zambrano's last 58 road starts.

Forty-eight years ago today, on 17th July 1961, RHP Ed Reulbach, last surviving member of the Cubs' last World Series champion team of 1908, died in Glens Falls, New York, age 78.

...yes, it's been that long.

(Also died that very same day - Ty Cobb, whose Tigers that year would be the last team to lose to the Cubs in a World Series.)

so pretty much all these odds/stats are saying we have a 1% chance of winning tonight.  no surprise.

but C.S. has been pitching well recently, I think we win tonight.

C.S.

This makes me think of C.S. Lewis; which makes me think of Through the Looking Glass which makes me think we should call Stammen "The Mad Hatter."

hate it. Bard should be on the bench. Alberto Gonzalez should be getting a start at either SS or 2B. BS

Riggleman is worse than Manny.

Riggleman I am worse than Manny Air Zimmerman.

fixed.

Bard is a better hitter than Nieves.  So what Wil had 4 hits in game last week that we still lost.  He still isn't a better hitter than Bard.

But I do agree Gonzalez should be the everyday 2nd baseman if he keeps swinging the bat well enough.

Does it take a civil injunction to keep Harris off of second?

I like Bard in the 8 spot instead of the 7.  I really don't see much difference between the two catchers.  Both have significant weaknesses and both are better whe the other isn't.

Did you see Bard behind the plate last night?

didn't do a thing with the bat either. Wil should be starting everyday.

If Riggleman wanted to get Harris in there he should have put him in CF in place of Morgan.
