I'll be interested to see what they do with him for next year.  We have Harper and Werth as locks for 2 outfield spots.  We have Morse, Moore, Brown, and Marrero competing for time at LF/1B.  And that's assuming we don't bring back LaRoche or sign BJ Upton.

If we save our cash by not signing Upton or bringing back LaRoche, maybe that will leave enough to go after Grienke.

lol

Or we could not bring back LaRoche, play Morse at first for another year, and let Moore play LF. Or sign Upton. And keep the best pitching staff in baseball :D

While I love Grienke, I'd prefer to sign Zimmermann and another bat than go for another expensive pitcher.

Any way you slice it, it's nice to have options.  Having Brown and Moore basically graduating from AAA just gives us more options.  One is a lefty and one a righty so you could even platoon them.

because we have a guy we drafted 2 years ago that's better than him.

Harper's been playing more CF as of late with Morse in RF and Lombo in LF.  Who would you remove of those three to make room for Brown?  I could see the argument for benching Espinosa against RHP maybe, moving Lombo to 2b, and then an OF of Morse/Brown/Harper maybe?

Lombo to second. Morse to LF, Harper to RF, Brown in center. Upgraded offense and defense

I mean now. I'm not counting on Werth coming back for a while.

We're starting Bernadina and Nady in the outfield today. Does anyone really think those two are better than Brown?

Well, there are days and plays. Nady's catch over the wall on Friday; Bernie's game-winning triple (with some hard running by Harper). Espinosa hit well today.

When Werth is ready, say in late August, then...who knows?

I think Ankiel will be traded by the deadline to make room for Brown. At least I hope so, seems to make sense.

See, I like Ankiel as a defensive replacement.

We get the lead. Ankiel plays center, Brown in LF, Harper in RF. We have an outfield with arms and range.

Fine with me, but who does Brown replace?

He was 2 for 4 today with 2 triples.  Oddly, with 2 triples, he scored no runs and had no RBIs.

but he's not playing ahead of Tyler Moore!

Seriously, I'm joe patience and all, but a Brown / Moore
<============
in left for a while would be interesting.

Who to cut?  I'm not sure about DeRosa.  I like at least two backup infielders, and I count Lombo as one and DeRo as the other.  Ankiel is still our best defensive OF.  I like Bernie as a PH multi-positional guy, but I see things as coming down to him or Brown.

no moore needs to be playing everyday.  if it's not at 1B, it's gotta be LF.

You are probably right, hammonds.  Bernie is better as a PH since he does not play much.  If LaR, Morse, or Harper went down for a period of time (perish the thought) then Brown could come up and play.

Brown could be playing himself into a trade chit, which would be nice.  Say, the Astros as part of Wandy deal . . . (just a hypo)
