Wow. I've been down on him in the past but if he can have a strong season what a draft class 2011 could turn out to be. As Rendon Meyer Goodwin and Purke all could be impact prospects. Skole too!

any history with these types of surgery?

the only guy I can think of is Webb, but their injuries are a bit different?

I don't know what shoulder surgery that Purke is having, but most shoulder injuries are hard to determine what the comeback is like.  Shoulder capsule problems like Wang, Santana and Chris Young have been shown to be very hard to return from and Wang really never looked like his former self.  Actually, Wang did look like his former self until he blew out his hammy in ST and AGAIN screwed up his hip most likely compensating for the hammy.

He is still young and if everything goes well and he doesn't put too much stress on himself to come back from it, he should be fine.  It sounds like Cole Kimball is on his way back from labrum surgery.

It sounded like this was clean up of scar tissue and not necessary muscle or tendon / ligament repair.

wow, interesting stuff via Rizzo today.  Sounds like Solis and Purke will make a few starts at their current destinations and will soon be bumped up.

Obviously Giolito is further behind in terms of experience level, but those two may be on the fast track.

true.  not too concerned with hits/runs right now ... most important is how he feels after the start, where his velocity is and how is his command.

Did someone mention velocity?

But seriously, hammonds nailed it. Health and velocity is all that matters right now. Results will come if those are right.

I think we can all agree that Purke's health is important right now. I think there's another thing that might be important, but I'm blanking...can anyone help?

The rate of change of the position of the baseball, equivalent to a specification of its speed and direction of motion?

No, that's not it...oh yeah - VELOCITY.

Plus, as far as Rizzo goes, how he looks in jeans.
