WebOS Thread.
« Topic Start: September 02, 2011, 05:35:52 PM »
Is anyone else using WebOS devices? I have a Touchpad 32GB (dropped to $149 price recovery after the EOL announcement) and a Pre 2. Both run Preware and custom kernels. The phone has the free hotspot app on it.

It is a damn shame its future is in doubt. I particularly like the seamless email and calender applications.

If it dies on the vine, I'll eventually look at Andriod for the Touchpad.

It always looked like a really smooth flowing UI to me, but I never used one first hand.  I really wanted a TouchPad when they dropped to $99 but I was a few hours too late to that party and they were sold out everywhere at that price.

Once you shutoff the extraneous logging it is incredible. If you load the custom prepare patches and kernel it gets even better.

There is one more wave coming. Had a better link but this will do.

The price suggests either a great opportunity or a caution (HP sells them for $149) but 32GB Touchpads are here for $40 on Ebay. :mg:

It looks that way. If not, people are dual booting andriod now although I have not done it yet myself.

I ended up buying 7 (shipped to various friends and family around the world). If I end up using the buyer protection, at least it is confined to two orders. It was a great tablet at $149, $40 is a steal.

Damn, I'll have to get in on that if they still have them when I get off work (eBay blocked).

you have no need for a tablet/$40 is too much for an impulse buy?

Otherwise, no reason not to, especially if you're computer literate enough to root it

Looking more for experiences buying what could turn out to be bootleg material from eBay.

I wouldn't even be that mad if it was some generic tablet that I could throw android on.  I'd just be worried of getting a touchpad box with a flooring tile inside.

Lady I used to work with brought in the Sylvania "netbook" she bought from there, wanted me to tell her if it was any good.  It ran Windows CE

This is legit I think. I read hp was going to dump their leftovers on ebay. I bought a shirt direct from neiman marcus for thirty bucks from their ebay store.

That already happened around Dec 11th or 13th at the company ebay store at the $99/$149 price point. I am not saying it is illegitimate but this not an HP authorized reseller or a sale by HP. Caveat emptor. It is a bit odd considering there were no employee discoiunts which undercut that price and the demand was high both inside and outside the company. Granted I am hoping it is legitimate because it will allow me to provide almost univsal tablets for my family and closest friends.
