Happy to see both the Marlins and Red Sox blow it today.  Marlins have overtaken the Phils as the team I most love to hate.  It would make me very happy to see Valentine and Guillen have multiple melt downs this year.

Marlins and Phillies start a series tomorrow.  I'm not sure which team I want to see lose more...

Odd baseball tidbit to show the Astros youth and Jaime Moyers age.  When Moyer faced Houston Saturday he had only faced 5 of the starting 9 Astro players before, yet Moyer has faced 10 current Major League Baseball Managers.

I don't hate the players on the Phils the same way I hate the Marlins players.  I hate Zambrano and Hanley and Ozzie.  I hate Bonifacio.  I find it difficult to hate Halladay and Cliff Lee and Hamels.

It's the anguish among the Philly fans that I relish with every Philly loss.

The only Philly player I hate is Chase Utley.  Even Rollins and Howard I like.  Don't know why.  Just a thing.

Maybe you are a closet Phillies fan? If two NL East teams make the playoffs, who do you choose (assuming you have djinn like powers)?

Nope - I love it when Philly loses.  But I view the monstrosity that is the 2012 Marlins as the greater evil.

Josh Hamilton just crushed a homer.  That guy is a beast.  If Bryce Harper can be Hamilton without the substance abuse problems, that would be a great outcome.

Gosh have the Red Sox made some extremely dumb personnel decisions the past 3 years.  Transparently dumb.  Dumb at the time of the moves.  First, the signing of Lackey for long term when his velocity, K/9, and other peripherals had been slipping.  Then, while I am a big Crawford fan, not to recognize he was a poor fit for the ballpark was a desperation move.  Even the decision not to re-sign Beltre in order to bring in Gonzalez looks unwise given Youkilis's age.  Could have used some of those depth pieces for a quality starter in trade.  finally, after hamstringing the organization with big contracts, they go out this year and trade even more depth for Melancon and Bailey. despite Melancon being a one year wonder and Bailey being the Nick johnson of closers.

At least you still have Bobby Valentine and that guy that likes juice on your roster.

Worse signing - Lackey, Werth, or AJ Burnett?

I'm not sure if you're serious.

I hate both teams with a passion.  But since they are playing in Philly, I'd rather see the Marlins win just to piss off their worthless fans, especially the opener on Monday.

Can't see it, unless it's a 3-4 year deal.

MDS - Lackey for now.

Burnett was good for a good chunk of 2009.  His ERA was better than his peripherals but his ERA+ better than league average.  That was the first year in New Yankee, so it is not a nothing to have a righty put up that kind of performance.  He pitched 200+ innings for a world series winner.  At least they got something out of him.

Lackey had a winning record, but that is about the only positive you can say about his 2010. He pitched 30 fewer innings than Burnett did in 2009, with more than a half a run worse ERA.  Also, because the Red Sox have less resources than the NYY (it just is a smaller market and the value of the franchise is much lower) and are less willing to go deep over the luxury tax threshold, the impact of the misspending impacted the team's decisions more than the Burnett deal did for the NYY.

Werth will be a bad signing in terms of value, but until you show me how it impedes the team's progress, then it is better than the Lackey signing.  It has the potential to be a bigger negative if the team has to let Strasburg, Zimmermann, or Harper walk, and shys away from key signings because of it, but right now, it is no more of a lead weight than the JD Drew signing was.
