I looked up Paul's career stats. He seems to do well in the minors but can't seem to make the jump to the bigs. Nats could surely use another stick though.

In the first game of yesterday's DH: Zach Duke - 7IP, CG for the Chiefs (3h, 2r, 2er, 1bb, 5K).  Xavier Paul goes 2-5 with a HR as DH.

Good to see Duke pitch well, I've followed his career since he was in the minors with the Bucs and was a pretty big prospect.

Paul's stick the last three games has heated up.

I wish Paul had gotten more PT in the Spring.

Chiefs have won 7 in a row.

He did this last year.  He's a AAAA pitcher.  Hopefully the Nats don't get fooled by this.

Actually, he's never put up these numbers. It doesn't mean he's better now but these are the best numbers he's put up.

He put up solid numbers early in 2011 (ERA under 4 with very respectable peripherals), and then got called up and shat the bed.  After he got sent down, he started suddenly giving up runs at AAA, but his start to 2011 wasn't too far off from this season's.

Unless someone's watched him pitch and can verify that he's no longer throwing a flat, 89 mph fastball, they should never let him sniff the Majors.

Is Souza on the juice? 6 Doubles, 1 Triple, 7 HRs in 56 ABs in Hagerstown this season. .357/.410/.875

Him and Skole most definitely belong in Potomac but there is a logjam so it's tough.

Souza was in high-A last year, i'm not sure why he got demoted.

Wasn't he suspended once already for PEDs?

Q- do the Nats tend to assign college players lower in the minors than other teams?  I'm thinking an awful lot of our high picks start at Hagerstown rather than Potomac.  Rendon I guess was the exception, but otherwise, they seem pretty cautious about assingments and promotions to A+ and AA.

Maya could be perfect the rest of his career and I still never want to see him pitch again for the Nats.

But if he was perfect the rest of the career, of course you'd want him to pitch again for the Nats... because then he'd be perfect for the Nats.

Caleb Ramsey with a nice day, 2-3 2HR and a BB. He is having a nice year so far in Hagerstown, after 141 AB's  hitting a slash line of .319/.382/.504 with 5HR's.

Indianapolis Indians broadcasters are talking about how much we gave Maya (he's starting tonight) and how bad he is.  It's a revelation to hear.  Too bad it's coming from minor league announcers from another organization.   :?
