The problem is that a reliever that can't throw strikes reliably is just as bad. The only purpose he would serve is mop up duty in a lost cause. You can have anyone do that. Cabrera is only on this team, because Manny liked coaching him in the WBC. He's not the only rotten pitcher we have, but they seem to recognize the fact that a bunch of our guys suck. With Cabrera, they have delusion that somehow he can be fixed.
From what I have read from St. Claire, Cabrera tells him nothing so I don't believe it is St. Claire that still wants him here.
