Maybe I'm splitting hairs here but aren't Fangraphers the same folk who strenuously deny that a batter has any control over where the ball goes?  Saying LaRoche is "creating his own luck" doesn't seem to jive with that.
I think they look at things like changes in batting ball profiles to explain major BABIP fluctuations, contact rates, K%. etc...   The groundball / flyball ratio is a key ratio.  I don't think they deny guys can try to hit flies rather than grounders (everyone likes LDs).  This is trotted out by folks who argue that Jose Bautista's HR improvement was real and repeatable.

Actually not really. It's a common misconception regarding SABRnerds but they look at much more than just his BABIP.

Alright haters who wanted him gone (and maybe still do), this is over due, dude's been absolutely killing it this year and has returned with an All-Star caliber year so far.

Well done, Adam, keep up the good work!

Adam is an all-star this year.   His swing is just so incredibly smooth.

he'll definitely make the all star team with prince and pujols out of the league.  I doubt he'll start though because lahair is raking

From what I saw in the first 2 days at wrigley I was mortified, now I'm very grateful to have him.

When morse is back our lineup will be decent

The top 4 1Bs in the NL right now (by WAR) are LaHair, Votto, LaRoche, and Freeman. Votto's a lock, and Freeman might get a lot of fan votes. The Cardinals are taking up managing duties, I think, so they might try to sneak in Berkman.

Yeah.  During the game Carpenter and FP were talking about what the lineup might look like in August, when (we hope) both Werth and Morse are back.  They suggested the following, which looks pretty damn good:

Desmond
Werth
Zimmerman
Morse
Laroche
Harper
Espinosa
Flores

If everyone's healthy by then, and the pitching holds up, the team could really make a strong run in the last 7 or 8 weeks of the season.

Swap LaRoche and Morse. Makes it difficult to bring in a lefty specialist. Also think Harper should be hitting second

Depends on how Harper is doing, he could make a pretty strong case to stay at #2.

Yeah. I take back what I've said towards LaRoche. It was just so easy to dismiss him since he wasn't here last year. I hope he continues this tear.

So it's pretty much a given that we pick up his contract for next year?

I wouldn't go that far yet but he's at least making the notion that there's not chance he's coming back not a given either.

You mean the first day.

I was at game #2 when LaRoche had a pretty awesome game. Infact, his home run lead to a celebration by a Nats fan that ended up in the Washington Post.

For that, I salute you Adam LaRoche!
