All of the saves Chad has blown have been 1-run leads.  He is now 3 for 7.  Despicable.

I think whatever he had going for him back then...was figured out by the batters & scouts at the end of 05.  Ever since then he's been searching to find something new - and unfortunately hasn't had much success.

He has 10 walks against 13 strikeouts.  I think other teams looked at tape and saw that they were swinging at balls.  So now they take his pitches and the walks.  His nibbling at corners isn't being called in his favor, and he lacks the velocity to blow people away.

Ryan #1 (Zim) steals 2nd.  B-Ryan Schneider getting an IBB.
We need a Blasto, Casto!

Does anyone know when Ayala is expected back? I suspect that if things keep going the way they're going with the Chief, that Ayala would be the set up role and Big John would be the closer ... IMHO

He very well could be better at this point but I am seriously wondering: are they allowed to send Cordero down? Would he have to clear waivers, etc.?

And of course Casto strikes out.
He's nothing.
Wish Langerhauns was still in there. He was 2-3 and was hitting the ball well.

I don't hear anything about Ayala, which is not a good indication of where he is in his rehab.

I'm sure Chief is out of options so yes he would have to clear waivers.

The Nationals updated the status of three injured players on Friday. SP Jason Simontacchi (groin) allowed one run and eight hits in a five-inning rehab start at Triple-A Columbus. RP Luis Ayala (elbow surgery) threw two innings at extended spring training, touching 90 mph. SS Cristian Guzman (hamstring) played three innings and went 0-for-2 in extended spring training.

That would make our record a little more respectable.

Couldn't you just move Chief to the bullpen to pitch set up ... ??? I wouldn't send him down - I just think he needs some work under less "pressure" situations until he can get his control back ... but maybe that's wishful thinking ... I don't know ...

RotoWorld:
Luis Ayala (elbow and neck) struck out four during a two inning appearance at extended spring training on Friday.
(Updated 4/28/2007)
IMPACT
Ayala threw 90 mph hour during the game. He should head out on a minor league rehab assignment during the next week.

Sounds like just any other day at Wrigley to me.  The only ones less behaved are Phillie and Mets fans.
