Gameday Thread: Nationals vs Mets, Game 2 (L)

And ANOTHER home run for the Mets.  And another kitten DIES, due to a Nationals error.  
Washington pitchers will have the worst team ERA in 2006.  We are the worst fielding team too.

Appropriately, F-Rod is brought in to pitch...to get things under control in a 10-0 game.

F-Rod serves up ANOTHER 3-run homer for the Mets.

They said Frank is an early riser, and plays golf almost every day.  But he still arrives at the team office at noon on game days.  Lots of well-wishers with signs for Frank tonight.

Game over. LOTS of fans holding signs praising Frank Robinson.
"Here's to you, Mr. Robinson" and "Thanks Frank."  
A blonde teenager has one that added, "Zim for R.O.Y."  Wonder who that could be.
Frank steps outside the dugout as the game ends, and lifts his cap to a big ovation.

They're showing his post-game press conference live on MASN.
He says, "It's an enjoyable moment...It's nice - to be appreciated."  He and the players were all happy to see Nick Johnson, who came to the clubhouse before the game.  

Frank will talk one-on-one to the assistant coaches and individual players before the game tommorrow.  He said he didn't want to do it after tommorrow's game, when many will be flying to off-season homes.

Just got back from Shea, er, RFK...the Mets appeared to be having a scrimmage with some local yahoos.  Pretty silly.  

Horrible game notwithstanding, it was nice to be there with a lot of fellow baseball fans (Mets fans I guess qualify) enjoying a beautiful fall evening - maybe we'll get a taste of October baseball someday here in D.C.

I do have to hand it to Julio Franco...watching him play is like seeing some Inca mummy with a bat blasting balls 430 feet.  Unreal...
