Capuano lasted just 3 1/3 innings in his last outing -- his first start since coming off the disabled list. He labored throughout but did a good job of limiting the damage done by defensive mistakes. He didn't let the game get out of hand in the third, allowing just one run to score after two errors loaded the bases with no outs.

In his first Major League game since 2005, Redding lasted five innings, while giving up three runs against the Cubs. Redding acknowledged that he was too pumped up at the start of the game and it showed in the first inning as the Cubs took a 1-0 lead. After Alfonso Soriano singled and stole second base to start the game, Ryan Theriot singled to score Soriano. Redding would retire the next three batters. Redding would give up two more runs before his night was over.

A quality outing by Redding would be a big lift to the club.  Let's Go Tim!

So let me get this straight, as soon as I left the game thread last night the Nats mounted a comeback, coincidence? Ask Chief. I guess that means I'll have to stay away from the game thread until it is proven that my game thread attendance is not the cause for the Nats losing ways. How is that for the fans influencing the outcome of a game

Edit: I just remembered that Redding is starting today's game. See you guys in the game thread on Friday  :?

Looks like Manny is putting out the C lineup for today's game for whatever reason.  Jimenez and Batista both playing?  Lopez batting 6th and Church batting 7th? Kearns batting cleanup? Belliard and Young, our two best hitters, on the bench?  The players have 4 days to rest after this game, I don't understand why they are sitting today.

Logan CF
Jimenez 2B
Zimmerman 3B
Kearns RF
Batista 1B
Lopez SS
Church LF
Flores C
Redding P

I would laugh if this lineup scores 15 runs today

It's possible but highly unlikely. I check out the box score for the lineup and i expect to see the usual. Flores for Brian, and maybe one other move. I totally was blindsided when i saw JIMENEZ in the starting lineup. O well, maybe he hits better as a starter. Because pinch hitting is certainly not his thing. I guess Belliard > Nationals did need a rest.

I'm okay with Jiminez getting a start.  He was hot in AAA, but has had no chance to find his rhythm since being recalled.  And Flores over Schneider doesn't hurt at all, Brian needs more rest.

But you're right, this really is our "C" team.

If we can somehow manage to pull of a Win today vs the likes of Fielder, Hardy, Braun etc it will be a huge boost in confidence not to mention the upset of the season.

Redding was considered a shoo-in for the top three spots in our rotation going into ST.  Maybe he can show why, and become a permie.

WHEW, we are so lucky Hardy didn't score.  90% of the time, that runner would have scored.

Double play possibility, but there's no chance in hell with Fielder up.
