I'm hoping that We'll re sign morse to be our DH in 5 or so years when the NL adopts it.

:spaz: No thanks...

DH. I love Morse. Though a 5 year contract with him would also be :spaz:

I hate the DH too, but it's only a matter of time until the NL adopts it.  I remember reading a quote from Bud Selig saying that he thinks the NL will adopt the DH within 10 years.

What does Texas plan on doing at 1B next year?  Could Morse be a fit there?  He'd probably hit 40 homers in that park.

Moreland?  Haven't they been linked to LaRoche?

From the WaPost article linked to earlier on this page.
Quote
The Seattle Mariners, the team that traded Morse to the Nationals in the middle of 2009, could be a solid trade partner for the Nationals. Seattle is desperate for offense, and it has a bevy of advanced starting pitching prospects. Some team officials said they could package Morse with another player if they want an upper-echelon prospect.

Is Kilgore suggesting that the Nats think they could land Walker or Hultzen?

I can't imagine that we think we could get Hultzen for anything we'd be willing to trade.  I mean, what would that take... Morse plus who?  Espinosa?  We won't (and shouldn't) offer that, but they wouldn't give up a top young pitcher for less than that.  I think we must be looking at lower level prospects?

I don't know, Maybe we include Rendon?  He's blocked for a while if we re sign laroche and Danny is the guy at second.

I seriously doubt that the Astros will want Morse, but I would trade him straight up for Lance McCullers or Michael Foltynewicz if we re-signed Laroche.

The Yankees and Dodgers might both have $200+ million payrolls without projecting to be 90 win teams.

Yankees are cutting payroll so I don't see 200 million being an issue. Their goal is to get under the luxury tax for at least one season so they can stop paying 50%.

Kilgore wraps up the Nats at the winter meetings:

- Assuming we nab LaRoche, our payroll should be around $115 million, 9th highest in the league

Psh ... now I know you're full of it. LAC bro. Cheap as cheap can be.

What does Texas plan on doing at 1B next year?  Could Morse be a fit there?  He'd probably hit 40 homers in that park.

I think they're going to move Hamilton there after trading for Upton

I'm down for that. Morse + Rendon for Hultzen. OMG five aces are u kidding me?

Hultzen ain't all that.  He's at best a #2.  he was drafted high because of his likelihood to reach his ceiling in a very short amount of time.  He's not an ace IMO.  Walker is worth way more than Hultzen because of his ceiling.  No way I'd give up Rendon for Hultzen.

I hope Selig is right. I'm not a huge baseball (other than the Nats) but I prefer the AL brand of baseball.

In other words, I'm pro DH.

I feel hultzen is a bit overrated too.  In my dream world I'd like to trade morse+rendon for taijuan walker and carter capps

Now that would be the heist of the century.  I don't even think Seattle would take Rendon & Morse for Walker.  I think he's about as untouchable as they come right now.

Rizzo needs to steal a pitching prospect or two from the Mariners to replenish those we've lost in trades and now the Rule 5 draft. Seattle has three good prospects. Walker, Huizen and Braxton.
Morse might do the trick if Mariners don't get Hamilton first.

Morse for a deal around Paxton if the Nationals are lucky.  That would be a decent enough snatch.  But then again you can always aim high.  Walker > Hultzen.

I agree that Morse could snag a decent snatch

I think Seattle picked up Furbush from Detroit.  I think that trade was his first time.

I believe that was the Fister-Furbush trade.

Too bad it wasn't a 3 way involving CMW.  Or Copec.
