Coffee!!
« Topic Start: December 09, 2008, 06:25:34 PM »
I love me some coffee, but I'm getting pretty sick of Folgers Gourmet Supreme. I like STRONG coffee. Any recommendations?

Grind it yourself, it makes a difference. We got some organic coffee that was good, and we weren't brewing cups full of pesticides.

Fruit smoothies wont wake me/keep me up. They can be good, though.

If you've never had it, how do you know it's nasty?

I've never had coffee but in general I do not like the flavor of coffee.

I did have iced coffee once and I took one sip and then threw the rest of it out.

If I had done that with coffee and beer I never would have survived college

Other than water, there's nothing better than a cold brew.

BTW, did anyone hear the news on Clemens? I heard something about it but I don't think I understood what they were trying to say.

Yuck, I can't stand water. The only time I'll ever drink water is if I'm dying of thirst and really tired after playing basketball or something.

Pretty much all I drink is Skim Milk, Smoothies, Vitamin Water/Powerade, and an occasional Soda. All my friends and family members all make fun of me because I am so picky. They all laugh at me because rice is my favorite food and I eat it almost everyday.

smoothies are good and a huge ripoff. it's mostly ice. need to start making my own instead of buying them. i guess you pay for the convenience of not cleaning a blender.  coffe is better if you put hot chocolate mix in it

Coffee is nasty to me if it doesn't have cream and sugar.

Using a coffee maker is definitely the way to go, but I haven't done that in ages.  I try not to drink coffee because the caffeine affects me way too much.

Fruit smoothies are great but so expensive if you don't make them at home.

Here's one of the best places in the area to get freshly roasted, ground and brewed coffee.

Misha's, in Alexandria.

Honestly, I am not a coffee aficionado, but nothing beats getting slosh drunk and out of your mind and then going to IHOP in the wee hours of the morning to get some early breakfast and a cup of Folgers.

For you folks who like the Folgers or other weaker common coffees, Dunkin Donuts has a very competent mid-roast coffee.  To me it's the best of the low rent coffees, although sometimes McDonalds is okay, though very uneven quality.

Sometimes they serve people before the pot is finished being made, which siphons off the flavor leaving pisswater for the next buyer, usually me.

Kahlua

I love black russians, but when you're flights delayed for several hours, and they finally call for boarding, you occasionally find that your legs don't work and miss the d*mned flight anyway.

I love Kona and Jamaican Blue Mountain, but can't afford it except rarely. Heavenly!! So now I use blends of either.

I used to drink it more as a kid because it was forbidden and only with plenty of Cream and Sugar!  Kind of like warmed up coffee icecream.    ;).  Now I like the combination of coffee and Hot Chocolate!  Someone told me once that instead of adding Hot Chocolate to plain boiling water, to add it to Coffee instead.  Its not bad!  I like my limited amt of coffee just like I like my hard drinks;  enough sugar, cream, and/or chocolate to cover up the bitter taste of it!  My hard drinks.  Enough fruit flavor to drown out most of the alcohol taste!

By the way, for any fancy coffee drinkers;  those Lattes etc with Whip Cream and chocolate have enough calories in them that you could have had a healthy lunch.

Anyone ever had BADASS coffee.  I'm not cussing.  There is a store in Manassas named BAD ASS Coffee store.  Its named after the Donkeys that carried the Coffee up and down the mountains of Hawaii.  Its located right in the same shopping center as Toys R Us and the Christian Bookstore!

I love me some Dunkin Donuts in the mornings. It's like crack cocaine.

On the non-coffee front, I love those lo-carb Monster energy drinks.
