It may be difficult to improve against Arroyo (2-4, 2.64 ERA), who has been one of the league's most effective pitchers despite his record this year.

He is 1-0 in two career starts against the Nationals, allowing seven hits in 16 scoreless innings with three walks and 16 strikeouts.

Levale Speigner  (1-0, 4.91) makes his second career start for the Nationals. The rookie right-hander filled Shawn Hill  's spot in the rotation Wednesday against Atlanta and lasted four innings, giving up four runs and eight hits.

Speigner, who had been used primarily as a long reliever, was 1-0 with a 3.77 ERA in 12 relief appearances before he was called on to start. This will be his first appearance against the Reds.

Question: Why do you keep putting the Nats as the home team, even when they play on the road? Don't you have a pair of templates, so you can do it both ways?

Arroyo led MLB in innings pitched in 2006 with 240, went 14-11 with a 1.19 WHIP and a 3.29 ERA.  Of course, he had Austin Power Kearns and Felipe Lopez on the team back then.  But he's only 2-4 in 9 starts.  The offense needs to step up and Speigner needs to give us 6 decent innings.

"Lopez singled to shallow left center, Lopez to second on left fielder Dunn´s throwing error."

Already working on a deal to get Dunn, I see, as he winks at Lopez?  Heating up fast, as Cristian walks.  2 on.  I started Arroyo on my Forum fantasy team...

I'm not watching it, but I noticed the MASN normally has a 2-second delay, if I play the radio play-by-play.  Maybe they got the picture right and the sound still on delay.  Kearns continues slumping after Zimmerman and Young both double for RBIs.

Nationals 3
Reds 0
